Waxing question - old dog

I waxed my car - 1 day old new car. I havent waxed a car in 10 years. I used to work in a body shop and I also worked in a detail shop before that.



I am noticing what I call "hot and cold marks" in the paint. Look at the hood of a black car and you can see lighter and darker marks where the wax was.



I am using Zaino wash

Zaino Z6 spray

Natty's blue wax



I have a full 3m compounding polishing set up with a Makita 9227 and a Porter Cable 7424. I dont think I need to break out the big guns yet.



Shouldnt I just be able to wipe the car with a damp microfiber to remove these marks? These fancy chemical sealants werent around when I was doing this, I just dont know if the Zaino wash put something on the paint?
 
What did you dampen the micro fiber with? Maybe just try using it dry.



Also, Natty's blue will streak as it cures, so you may need to come back and re-wipe it. Or, purchase a Quick Detailer to do the final wipe down.
 
Dare I ask -



Would I get different results with the Porter Cable?

I have one but have never used it. These werent around back in the dark ages, at the time you would have used a Sears orbital buffer with a terrycloth bonnet.
 
No, with the ease of Natty's there would be no use to use a PC.



I would use a completely dry micro fiber to remove it. The water is probably the culprit of the streaking. Also, apply it VERY thin, as in so thin you cannot see it.
 
Thanks for the info. ill give it a try. I just went outside and triec to wipe it down with Zaino Z-8 and a new microfiber, no luck. It looks as if the streaks are under a coating?



I clayed the trink and it was a 100% difference. I think there is someting on the paint from the dealer. Ill clay the hood and give ti a go soon.
 
Thin is the key. I'm thinking you may have it a little thick, causeing the streaking.



FWIW I use a PC to apply Nattys. I warm the container with my hands, then tip it upside down and tap out the wax onto a sheet of saran wrap. Then I can handle it without getting it all over my hands. I can then add a small swipe to the foam pad and apply on speed 3.



For sure clay the entire car. Might wan tto just wash it again and start over. Wash, Clay, Polish any defects, then add the Nattys.

One thing you might consider doing, after you clay, use your PC to apply a coat of glaze. I like to use Red Moose Machine Glaze, but I suppose any glaze would work. It really brings out the "POP" in blacks, reds, and other dark colors. I think you will then find that Natty's Blue, applied thin, will do a beautiful job with little effort...........Tom :2thumbs:
 
Yes, I have to agree, I think I applied the wax too heavily. I'll give it a go again this weekend, maybe with the Porter Cable. I have 2 black cars and 1 green car, no mercy from any of them in direct sunlight.
