Waxing by hand help (07 IS250)

I just got a black 07 IS250. It has a decent amount of light scratches and swirls which I know they all wont come out. I know the best way to deal with them are by using a PC. But im not going to by one, just rather do the best I can by hand. Im willing to wax 3xs a year, spring, summer, fall. I have been using Meguires NXT 2.0 which looks awesome. But it doesnt seem to last very long. Also would some type of light swirl/scratch remover help before wax? Or am I just wasting my time with that?

You would benefit from a swirl remover like megs. colorX or swirl 2.0 theres are both OTC and will remove a nice amount of swirls using it by hand. You just have to work it in a good amount. After that I would use a nice heavy oily glaze to fill the rest of the swirls than go over that with a sealant/wax and the majority of your swirls will be gone.

Do not get me wrong it will not look nearly as good if you were to do it with a machine but still it will look very good.

Another thing you can do is take one panel a day because doing the entire car by hand is a HUGE TIRING job believe me your arm will be numb after 1-2 panels.

So what I would do is take one panel a day and get as many swirls out as you can and seal that panel and when you are done with the entire car put another coat of wax on the car as a whole.

If you're going to do everything by hand, consider looking into Megiuar's Ultimate Compound and SwirlX. They were made to eliminate swirls by hand, although they definitely work better by PC. Personally, I think Ultimate Compound works great as a scratch remover too. Doing only one or two panels a day sounds like a great idea.

When polishing by hand, remember to "Put some passion behind it" (i.e. rub hard). Quote from famous detailing expert.:)

yea the megs ultimate compound is a very good product whichever way you use it. Do not get scared off by the "compound" in the name it is not as harsh as a normal compound it does a great job for getting rid of the majority of scratches/swirls and finishes wax ready.

For OTC products the Ultimate Compound is my go to product as mild correction.
