Wax vs Polish on red car??

I'm a getting the car of my dreams, a 2000 red Ferrari Modena. I have always used polymer based polishes such as Liquid Glass on my cars. This car will be kept in the garage with a cover. Should I use a wax instead like Pinnacle?

since its going to be a garage queen and its a red color id normally say carnuba. only reason im steering for a sealant is because of the lines and grooves the car has, which a selant will have light bounces off all over the place. my vote for a sealant.

by the way if u do choose a sealant there are some more impressive sealants out there... read up... LG is still a good one, but a lot out there exceed it.

What sealants do you suggest?

Just to clear up some terminology for you. This is largely a matter of semantics.

Cleaner: Chemical variety designed to remove surface contamination. Abrasive variety similar to polishes.

Polish: Varying degrees of fine abrasives to improve surface quality and luster (with the finest polishes) through removing imperfections by removing a thin layer of paint. For example, if your paint's cross-section is like hills and valleys, you would be cutting off the hills. Like sand paper, but in liquid form, and usually much finer.

Wax/Sealant: Thin protective layer, organic or synthetic, and sometimes mixed. Many improve paint aesthetics by making them shine, shimmer, or reflect at a higher level.

So Liquid Glass is a sealant, but I believe it has some strong solvents in it, which make it have some cleaner properties. Not 100% sure.

Which sealant or carnauba to use depends on your priorities. Durability, reflectivity, wetness, ease of use, etc. What kind of product are you looking for? There is no "best" product, as others emphasize certain catagories.

Number one priority is appearence. I thought in general that waxes gave a better "look" but are not as durable as sealants. Since the car will be in a garage, I was going to go with a wax.

That is somewhat debatable, depending on what kind of looks you prefer. In general, sealants are more reflective than carnauba waxes. But carnaubas may have more of a glowing look, with more depth or wetness.

Within the categories of sealant or wax, some products have more reflectiveness, some have more wetness, etc. It's very subjective!

I like a little reflectivity, but also believe red should look very deep and rich. So I'd go with Wolfgang Sealant. If you want to use carnauba, I'd go with Pinnacle Souveran.

Do note that neither will look very good if your paint is not properly prepped. You may need to clay or polish beforehand.
