Wax Stripper

I see your point but ask this..... Have you ever had to "detail" a vehicle that has not been washed in years and sat under a tree? Admittedly an extreme case but you can use car wash & clay until the cows come home and it does little to nothing. What works as a starting point? Dawn. In short I have used it as a car wash only when required to begin the paint cleaning process. It worked well for me with no negatives. It also works as a "stripper" to start all over when prepping a surface. It works when other methods/products fail and certainly should not be used on a regular basis, that's what true car soap is for. No argument here, just saying that no problems were ever encountered over the years when I had to use liquid dish soap as the first step.

It has been a while now, but yes I had a vehicle from that exact environment. Pecan trees to be exact. It was a mess. Leaves, sap, bird droppings, lots and lots of grime as you would expect from a vehicle that lives in that envrionment. Wash/clay/polish/seal was all it took. Amazingly the windshield was what stands out in my memory as the biggest pain on the exterior. It was one of the few smoker's cars I see and the interior was another pain.

I won't argue the point of the occasional Dawn wash. I just don't find it necessary and especially not for the OP's apparent situation.

So in the end, neither of us is arguing/debating just going about things differently. Hey that's what makes discussions interesting. I appreciate your input and POV :bigups
