wax on or around badges/emblems?

i was curious does anyone wax (real thin coat) on and in around the badges/emblems? or do you get as close as possible and let it be?

I apply my LSP right over them and buff it off with a plush MF. The nap of the MF usually gets it all if I apply the LSP as thinly as I should. Any excess I get with a bit of cotton wool (e.g., pull it off the tip of a cotton swab) that I'll work into the tight spots with a sharpened toothpick/swab stick.

Polishes are different, I try to keep them off badging as best I can. Decades of polishing has worn down the chrome finish on the XJS's badges something awful.

that's what i was thinking as well. any leftover lsp could be taken care of with some qd & soft toothbrush, followed with a wipe or two from a mf. ;)

I wouldn't use a toothbrush though, I've never found one that was soft enough to do this without marring the paint. Used *dry* as in this application, the only brushes that would do this job effectively without marring paint were some weirdly flagged-bristle ones from TOL but those have been off the market for ages. Use the nap of the plush MF in place of the brush, you'll be glad you did ;)

I'd get rid of Benz/BMW emblems... People know those cars regardless of the emblem... and if you want the emblem soley to say "look BI***ES I GOT A BIMMER!!!" then you're awefully vain :)

the jag... no cuz that's a defining point of the entire car.... but i'd still know it was a jag lol

Customers car... you're right... unless they ask for it :)

well it would just look awful on a bimmer also because than youd have a big 3 inch indented circle where the badge was.......id rather have the badge .

but if possible i also agree remove EVERY one. :xyxthumbs

lol... obviously you woudln't just rip'em off and leave it like that.

Just about any decent body guy can take them off. Fill in the holes, smooth, and repaint. If he's worth a dang.. it'll turn out perfect. It's called "shaving" as in "shaved door handles" "shaved emblems" etc.
