Wax on leather

Anyone have a solution to this problem?

A black candle on the passanger seat while parked in the sun, the wax candle melted and soaked into the seat. It is a RSX type S with the sport seats. the bottom of the seat is perferated leather so it actually soaked into the pad beneath the leather and turned hard.

Any suggestions on how to get it out?

OUCH!!!

You might want to try a hair dryer. It will melt the wax on top of the leather then wipe it off quickly.

As for the soaked part, I have no clue.

Good Luck!!

I have not tried the old terry towl over the wax with an iron on leather before but it may work. It is going to be a royal pain trying to get the wax out of those holes!!

Sorry I cant help more.

I think your only alternative for the foam part is to take off the leather seat covering and cut out the small section of foam that was affected. you might even be able to glue a "patch" into the missing spot. Then again, I'm not an expert on seating, so I could be wrong.

No, your right. The foam is shot, and will need to be fixed. If it's not in an area that can be patched, you'll have to replace the entire lower seat foam. The only problem is, over the years, the patched area can tend to crumble and flatten out quicker than the rest of the foam.

As for the leather, put a towel or something over the leather to protect it and use a heat gun (be careful, they can get real hot!) and heat it slowly and evenly across the wax and wipe it up. Might take several towels to do this. Now, if the leather wasn't coated from the factory, it might leave a permenant stain on the leather, not much you can do if it does. Maybe have it re-dyed.
