Wax choice

Just got through with the new paintjob on my chevrolet truck. I painted it black. I've started on the color sanding and buffing process and am looking for a good wax to use. I've already got the bed done. I started off with 2000 grit paper to remove orange peel, next I used 3M buffing compound on a foam pad, I switched over to the 3M polish with a foam polishing pad and then I am moving over to a hand glaze. After the hand glaze I am going to apply my wax. I have some Duragloss 111 that I have not used yet. Should I use this or go another route?

I know a shop that polishes and waxes everything that leaves their shop and they have never had a problem out of it.

Right, and I know of people that smoke for 50 years without lung cancer, does that make it safe? Never doubt how many idiots there are in this world doing things they claim are right, when in reality, they're dead wrong. :hmph:

Find out from who painted it how long paint cure time is. I know there is different times for different paints. I MO, I would wait a bit. You won't hurt the paint.

Heh heh, I've often ended up telling the painters what the cure time is...funny how they don't always know info available straight from the paint manufacturer.

xtremekustomz- Seriously, wait until it finishes outgassing. If you work the paint throughout this period, you'll notice significant changes in its hardness while it cures. While that's going on, I use Meguiar's #5, but the glaze you're currently using will do the same thing...provide a little protection. Just remember to reapply it after every wash.

Oh, and Welcome to Autopia!
