I know it's not nice, but I usually grab the window squegee out of the community well and wipe it right down. What else can you do? I'm sure everybody else uses these things for far worse.

...what you need is a roll-down over-spill protector like Brad has on his Boxster :D

Griots Garage has something similar, pictured below...

I use self serve gas stations. When you fill it yourself, you are more careful about spillage than the minimum wage pump jockey.

If it should happen, I use QD and a small piece of an older towel that I can part with to wipe the spill, then discard the towel.

you got me with that one...i have never...ever...seen that gizmo before from Brad's boxster....im trying to picture the service station guy's face when he first sees that thing...:D i kinda dd the same thing steve did a few times...but it only spilled in the interior well-like part...not on the paint....

I, on the other hand, am very careful never to spill. I get a paper towel from the dispenser and blot the end of the filler on the paper as I remove it.

Don't fix what you can avoid.

The easiest way to aviod this (works 100% of the time for me). Just jiggle the nozzle for a second or two and draw it directly outwards from the car really fast, the drops, if there are any will fall inside the pipe you put the gas in and you'll have a gasoline free paint job.

I like that protective tongue thing but one thing they need to add is a little "lip" or a hook for your gas cap to rest on, then i'd be perfect.

I use the jiggle method but I still seem to get a drip no matter how much I jiggle it. Funny, that theory holds true at the urinal ;)

little did i know that now if i do a search with the word urinal....on a detailing site...i get a response....if you BF a urinal..will it beed or sheed....:D ....actually that cake in the bottom of the urinal looks like a large Viking terry applicator....get jiggy with it..thats what i do...

Wet with water.

QD if available.

Use only soft towels or MTs.

Wash at first chance and reapply wax/sealant.

No matter how careful you are eventually everyone spills a little bit of gas I bet.

The little rubber protectors are great; my Alfa came stock with one. In case anyone is thinking of ghetto rigging one, it has a hole towards the bottom of the flap that stretches over a matching 'male' connector on the gas cap.

:D puterbum

My SVX has something of a unique paint protector/filler cap holder built in . . . hard for me to describe, but I'll try to take a couple of pics to post.

Instead of worrying about using up any towels when you fill up, you could also use paper towels and/or newspaper. Laters

Hey Guys.....

Some what familiar with the basic processes......... but I got to thinking about the application of Wax/sealant. Wanted to get some opinions of using Machine versus Hand on applying wax/sealant. My thinking is I have clayed, polished with machine. and may have layed down a glaze with machine.... now final step.... use a machine with wax or just apply by hand.... any advice or opinions...........pro/cons..... Thanks much
