washing small amount of MF

What would be a good way to wash a small amount of MF towels?

Someway where I possible won't need to use the washing machine. Can I soak them in something and then just use the dryer to spin and dry?

You can wash them by hand in a bucket of hot water and Woolite. Rinse and repeat rinsing several times in hot water until no cloudiness is left in the water then rinse with a bit of white vinegar and dry.

so are you saying that each time i rinse, i need to refill my bucket with clean hot water? So I would wash; then rinse, then empty my bucket and refill then rinse again and empty and rinse again and empty and continue to do so until water remains clear?

For me, rinsing under running water doesn't work as well as rinsing in a bucket with fresh water. Try rinsing under running water then put the MF in a bucket filled about 3-6 inches with clean hot water. Agitate and squeeze the towels a few times and see if the water isn't cloudy. I find about 4 refills of the bucket will do a better job of removing all the detergent than rinsing each towel under running water. YMMV.

Based on the information I have seen, mf is ruined by hot water. I wash my mf by hand using warm water.

Whenever I wash my car in winter, I end up using 4-6 MFs for washing/drying the car. I just fill a bucket with Woolite/warm water and agitate one at a time in the bucket. Each MF is probably in the bucket for 1.5-2 minutes. I then rinse the MF under running water. After it has been rinsed, I have a separate bucket for the final rinse.

BTW Patrick, I don't use your nice MFs to clean salt and winter grime off the car. That's a job for WalMart MFs. :D

Langman, something else you mentioned in your original post I discovered is important.

Forrest, from Mothers, made this point in Mothers Waxforum. Up until then I line dried my MF and they worked fine. No complaints. He suggested putting them in the dryer, on *warm*, when they are just damp, almost dry, to fluff them up.

I tried it and, WOW! they weren't only fluffy, they GRIPPED everything...they didn't want to let go of my hands! It really opened up the fibres and increases the static charge (which is part of its functional strength).

Now they work even better than new! :D
