washing cotton chenille wash mitts

I just washed my mitts in the washer and they really took a beating. Lost a lot of the fibers and the mitt seems to be 'thinning.' I've been using them for a couple of months now. I'm going sheepskin next....

I rinse mine out after each use, and when my supply of cotton towels needs to be washed, I throw the mitts in there as well...in the washing machine that is.

I just use a normal soap like Purex to wash them. I've never had any problems with machine washing them.

For my MF mitts, I wash them with my other MF stuff, and I use Woolite in the washing machine for them.

Yeah, it's normal for washers to really beat up the chenille mitts. Especially the first time through-*lots* of lint and shedding sometimes.

FWIW, I just accept that the chenille mitts (and to a lesser extent the sheepskin ones) have a fairly limited service life. I'd rather wash them to death than risk some contamination getting dragged across my paint ;)

I've filled my share of lint traps. I bought chenille mitts to use with QEW on my paint. Mitts are used for wheels only now as they've about to go. I use the chenille sponges now for paint if I'm using QEW.
