washing before LSP?

Hi all.

I had a customer who said after the detail, after a week, on the paint he saw some white spots and small lines maybe from polish. I'm thinking, althou I used masking tape, in the crevices remained some polish left, and from the pressure wash it came up on the paint.

I heard some detaileres wash the vehicle after polishing, right before wax. Could be to get rid of this problem?

Thanks, and excuse my french :)

I'm sorry I can't answer your question but I liked the "excuse my french" I don't know if you meant for it to be funny but I thought it was. :spit:

Yes, this is corect! But did you ever hear of detailers washing vehicle before waxing it?

Yes, I've seen some detailers do this, but usually after compounding. Do you usually wash your vehicles before waxing(after buffing) and if so, why?

I have done this on my personal vehicles and those of family members on numerous occasions due to the amount of splatter and dust left on the car after compounding/polishing. I was not as careful in these instances because I knew I would be rewashing the car afterwards so it didn't really matter that much.

Not to say that I haven't done it when detailing a client's car, but you really should do everything possible to keep from having to repeat the washing step unless maybe you are getting paid very well for a particular job and you feel that it is worth spending the extra time it takes. The crappiest part of it all would be having to dry the car all over again and having to deal with water dripping out from various parts of the car while you're trying to buff off your lsp, unless you spent even more time air purging the exterior of the car.

My advice would be to tape the vehicle off thoroughly to minimize post polishing cleanup and use blue painter's tape instead of masking tape.

LOL, I would say that washing the car after a compound or serious polish work is one of the few bad habits I've retainied from working at my dad's bodyshop. I dont do it too much if I am using Optimum polish or compound, but I will do it after doing some work with the Menzerna stuff.
