Washer fluid that WON'T remove sealant/wax?

Is there a windshield washer fluid that won't remove wax? I see autogeek carries the P21S and Wurth washer additives. Both say they can be diluted with straight water and used in lieu of traditional washer fluid.

Will either of these strip the wax or sealant protectant?

I plan on using EX-P topped/maintained with OCW. I ask because I have a long commute and in winter, the windshield gets pretty caked with salt from the road. I use my washer fluid constantly during driving to get the windshield clean enough to see thru.

I think your best bet is to move someplace where they don't have snow. Then you can just remove the wipers themselves. :2thumbs:

It is an interesting question though, I never really thought of windshield wiper solution and how it affects wax. It seems that any anti-freeze chemical will contribute to the stripping of wax.

This is gonna keep me up all night I just know it.

I'm sure that the elements of winter are worse for your car than the washer fluid. By the time you need to start using them/turning them on, it's too late for the rest of your car. Keep a good coat of wax/sealant on it and you'll be fine. I've seen bad batches of wiper fluid stain paint and trim, but I'm not sure if it will do damaging effects to deminish your protection. That's unless you wash your car with it!!

I think any of the "anti-freeze" WW fluids will strip wax. They usually have alcohol/methyl hydrate in them to keep them from freezing.

I think the P21S is just a "cleaner" booster, so you'd still have to add something to prevent the solution from freezing.

The Wurth looks nice, but I noticed they seem to miss mentioning "wax" when they say what it won't harm-paint, lens covers, rubber gaskets. I'm thinking it might still strip the wax.

Havent gone through a winter yet since I stated adding FK 425 to my wiper water. We shall see.

Have a room for rent? How about taking in a family of four? We're very quiet...you won't even notice us except for the sound of a PC. :waxing:

I have been using RainX washer fluid (from AutoZone) and it is working great! Seems VERY mild as a cleaner (almost too mild for tough stuff), but also adds some RainX and the effect in the rain is exactly what I wanted....water just flies off the windshield!

Noting that Ohio winters can be pretty tough, much to my surprise I've never had any real issues with washer fluid compromising my LSPs :nixweiss Guess the solvent action just isn't that strong..the vehicles that get used in winter have Collinite, #16, KSG, and UPP on them and I've never had any sign of the washer fluid doing any stripping. I get some blue staining in spots, but it comes off in the wash and the LSP seems fine.

I used to use the P21S booster stuff, but I quit and didn't notice any detrimental changes. I've been using cheap, ~generic anti-freeze fluid from the autoparts store and it seems to work fine.

A few of the cars (e.g., Porsche 928) I used to have were equipped with a secondary washer system, which used a more-potent-than-normal fluid; that stuff *would* strip the Souveran I had on those cars. But that was a special fluid hitting a beauty wax.
