Wash before Buying!!!!

I think it should be mandatory to wash a vehicle before buying. The reason is simple..... once you've been down and dirty with the vehicle, you can tell all the descrepancies if any and go from there. How many times have you been over powered with a cars beauty, buy it, take it home, wash it and find some surprises :bat Lot a work tho..........

Agree wholeheartedly. Now try and get the car to wash prior to buying it.

Best way to spot problem paint is to look at the panels under bright sunlight. Any defects will light up like the 4th of July. I've perfected this method when I go grocery shopping. I casually look at car paint as I walk by. 95% of the cars are marred with swirls or scratches.

I'd venture lots of these suprises are by the morons who wash cars at dealerships.

thanks :chuckle:

Anyways I agree... especially with a new car HAVE IT WASHED!! Often a salesman will ask me to give a car a quick wash if someone is interested, which is a PITA but I'm happy to do it for the customer's sake.

As yes, pretty much EVERY car as some sort of minor scratching, or at least definatly marring. They don't come off the truck with a car cover...

Most of the problem with all the scratches/marring you suddenly find on the first time you wash your 'new' car is the glazes/fillers the dealers have used to prep the car with,of course this only lasts so long usualy till you come to wash it or mabe the washing might remove some too.

We don't have any fillers or glaze that we put on new cars. That would take alot of time considering the volume of cars we sell...

I'm almost thinking that some cars might come from the FACTORY with some sort of glaze on it. With Escalades, Corvettes, Grand Prix GXPs, or other top of the line GMs the water seems to bead up really nice almost as if it was glazed/waxed. Cheaper cars like G6s and Cobalts don't do this as much.

Its been mentioned here on a few ocassions and by Sal Z. to me on either a phone call or an E-Mail that new factory paint on a car will bead well for up to 1 year w/o any topper. When I bot my 2006 Honda it had some cc marring but the beading of the paint reminded me of those Collinite beads.
