Warm Winter Greetings from Texas Hill Country

Hey There detailers, etc.

By way of introduction, I'm an old drag racer from the 50s/60s who has gotten back into cars via streetrods. Here in this mild south Texas winter climate we can drive 'em year round, so...why not? Never paid much attention to the paint and appearance of the dragsters so now I'm having to learn all about maintaining ...and sometimes, salvaging the paint of my cars.

I've been talking to alot of very skilled detail guys...including reps from various companies and have put together some tools for doing what I want to....including...wet sanding materials, rotary sander/polisher, orbital and ...a large number of compounds, cleaners, polishes, waxes, wool and foam pads....mostly Meguiar's products but some others too.

Am really enjoying learning all about modern paint finishes and ways to keep em looking good. Have a '39 Chevy sedan...corvette engine, chopped and slamed....but a good daily driver. Also a "little purple" GMC truck. The Chev is almost-but-not-quite-show-quality paint and the GMC's paint is pretty trashed out so I'm gonna get to "practice" on it to perfect whatever I'm trying to do so I can hopefully get it right the first time on the '39. ha!
