Wal-Mart MF - 8 pack "Detailer's Best" (Hometex), 14x14, 70/30, $4.86 - any good?

That's basically my question. Picked up three of these 8-packs they've got; I know there's been a bit of WM MF discussion here, but I don't believe they're all on the same product / were from different companies.

Anyone have any comments on these?

I wouldn't use them on a black Corvette. :)

But I use those MFs for door jambs, drying wheels, and other odd jobs not involving the exterior paint. Jobs that are dirtier than I'd ever subject my good MFs to.

For cleaning them? Or applying/removing products?

I'm talking about cleaning the jambs. When they're clean and I'm doing the usual AIO/#16 on them, I remove them with my Excel MFs.

Both. My jambs stay very clean due to typical OCD Lexus weatherstripping. I quick swipe after every wash and they remain pristine.

I bought two packs of those, use them for paintwork in the engine bay, door jams, etc. They aren't very good, but get the job done.

Bah, I didn't want to have to order from Excel/MFTech, and I don't exactly want to buy the Meg's Supremes at $5.00/ea locally. :doh

Suit yourself. You can buy high-quality MFs now, or buy polishes later. It's up to you.

Oh, I know - I don't want to use my 7424 + DACP and company any more than I have to.

Off to ponder at Excel/MFT...

I use them on paint without problems, but then again I'm not obsessed with having a swirl-free finish. I do my best to keep the finish looking good, because basically the only people that would notice the swirling and see it as bad would be other people with an "autopian" mindset, and I don't know anyone like that around here. Shoot even when my truck is REALLY dirty, it's still cleaner than other peoples' cars when theirs are the cleanest as possible.

They will do the job when it comes to removing polishes/waxes/QDing, but as usual you can always spend more for more quality. I would grab maybe 2 of them Meguiar's Supreme Shine MFs because they will go a long ways and are large enough to do multiple tasks.

I've purchased those also but use them for "less dignified" jobs like jambs, gas cap area, etc. They just don't cut it like the better MF's do for softness, thread count, etc.

hate to get political here but...

We as a country need to stop supporting Wal-Mart. They are selling out our country to China. 1% or all of China's exports go STRICTLY to Wal-Mart. It has more employees living BELOW the poverty line than any other U.S. corporation. Yet they are raking in BILLIONS. They are the epitome of corporate greed and recently paid one the largest settlements in worker abuse litigation. Every year more and more manufacturing is moved from the United States to China putting millions of workers on the unemployment line. Some segments of the population have no choice but to shop there to stretch their dollar to the max but the rest of us who can afford to spend $30 on a tin of wax should consider other options.

People give me sh1t for driving a German(2nd hand) car but at least we don't have a $300 Billion trade deficit with Germany like we do with China. Wal-Mart's sales account for nearly 2/3's of our massive trade deficit with the Chinese nuclear communist state.

If you must buy MF at least buy South Korean you are way overpaying for Chinese made MF which isn't really even MF but nothing more more than repackaged janitorial towels that don't split the fibers like Korean MF manufacturing.

This is an off-topic discussion but I could not disagree stronger.

WalMart has created jobs, given back to communities, and best of all improved my ability as a consumer to buy goods for less cash and have more selection.

We live in a global economy. As capitalists it is our duty to buy the best product, regardless of where it is made. Our economy is moving from a manufacturing one to one that provides better paying professional and design jobs. That's a good trend for the country.

P.S. Before you criticize outsourcing, know that we only outsource 1 million jobs versus 6 million that are insourced from other countries. We are a winner in this game.

? Reference?

I do agree with Lee. While WalMart does outsource jobs overseas, so do most other large corporations. When you call a customer service line for a major company, how often do you talk to an American? People like finding the lowest prices, and WalMart also offers the convenience of a department store and grocery store in one place (Supercenters). WM will always be a popular chain.

I agree you have the right to choose whatever products you wish to buy in a capitalist nation and if a product is going to be recommended on the forum then other factors need to be taken into account before purchasing those detaling supplies.

When you buy those Wal-Mart towels, also understand the future consequences of having twin deficits: a $300,000,000,000.00 trade deficit with a Communist nation and a nearly soon to be 1 trillion dollar budget deficit at home.

If you think losing our position as manufacturing power in the world doesn't have an impact on our future and the future of the gloabal ecomomy then I suggest you take a closer look at the financial dealings between Wal-Mart, China, and the U.S. Congress(with no campaign finance reform in future sight). Unfortunately most consumers don't have this level of understanding of the problem and Congress wants it that way.

"Running on Empty" by REPUBLICAN (yes a Republican!) Pete Petersen of the Concorde Coalition is an excellent eye opening read about what's happening to our nation whenever we buy Chinese made products that could have been made at home. We'll look back on these days and say "just to save a few bucks.... what were we thinking??"

We've lost our MANUFACTURING edge in the auto industry and thousands of lay offs have been announced with more coming. Making us even more dependent on other manufacturing fields. Who is going to hire all thos out of work auto workers with families?

Wal-Mart and their industry leading position of having the most workers without benefits?

Manufacturing built this nation into what is today and Wal-Mart is doing everything it can to destroy that.

Wal-Mart can't be fought because it's a way of life to most people now. Where else can you get a bicycle, shampoo, cotto salami, computer desk, tube socks, and valentines gifts in one place?

well up here in the Northeast we are fighting Wal-Mart and they have been told their new stores are not welcome here in a growing trend. This country got along fine without Chinese made products up until 20 years ago. Its time to reverse the trend. Something Wal-mart will fight against tooth and nail.

They don't care about our economy they are obssessed with efficiency (the most efficient company in America) even if it comes at the cost of compromising the fiscal future of our nation.

SO DON"T BUY THOS WAL=MART TOWELS!!!
