i'm not as concerned about $$$ over getting "the best"...but i am only a weekend warrior with this, so overkill is not necessary. the one thing that sounds like a drawback on the metabo is the speed control and no throttle trigger.

What was paradigm reffering to? what are the metabo's drawbacks?

Buffers like the Makita, DeWalt, Hitachi, etc have finger trigger speed controls. That’s a very handy thing, especially once you get into a habit of feathering the speed on body contours.

The Metabo has a thumb on/off switch. Changing speeds on the fly is awkward at best and I’d guess many (most?) users don’t. I usually stop to change speeds.

PC.

The positives of the Metabo far outweight the negatives. It is not too difficult to adjust the speed while polishing. I have a Milwaukee rotary with a trigger type control, but the size and weight difference, makes the Metabo much easier to use.
