waffle weaves vs cotton towels

Do waffle weaves absorb water better/quicker than cotton or do waffle weaves just hold more? Does it depend on how the wf is made? For example, there are waffle weaves out there that are not as soft, but hold a lot of water while there are ones that don't hold as much water, but are softer.

I have both types of waffle weaves, but I was just wondering what other people's opinions are.

i can only assume the reason why one holds better than another is the thread count. Microfiber quality has huge differences. Just my .02!:xyxthumbs

I am not overly concern with the "amount" of area that can be dried with any peculiar WW. I am impressed that all WW's (elite vendors) are gentle to my finishes, stay soft to the touch and maintain these qualities wash after wash after wash.

WW seem to dry surface a little faster. I still have a place for quality cotton towels but not on my vehicles visible surfaces (wheels, undercarriage, etc.):wavey
