Waffle Weave or Microfiber

Which is best(recommended) for drying a car? Is there a certain brand that is recommended? I have a waffle weave that I got off of eBay.

The waffle weaves I use vary slightly in quality, but all of them pick up water a lot better than any of the regular microfiber towels that I have. I usually pick up about 90% of the water with the waffle weave and then clean up the rest with a regular microfiber for each panel. Yesterday I dried my whole car with one waffle weave and one regular microfiber.

Poorboy's Waffle Weaves or Cobra's Guzzler WW are the two to look into... A little drying tip- Take the sprayer off your hose to flood the paint, which will allow the water to sheet off the paint and then follow up with your WW towel.

I'll bite. I like a waffle weave for drying windows, but prefer a regular large drying MF for the paint.

I'm not quite that bad, but I do use whatever MF towel I grab whether it is WW or regular. The waffle weave towels work great, but I never had any problem with the original terry style, either. I really wouldn't have any problem using one of my old cotton terry bath towels if that was all I had handy. They worked fine for years.

that is actually what I used when I first got a car, hard bath towels. You know, the ones you hang to dry, and they are all hard...lol

In case anyone is curious as to why a WW seems to work better than a terry towel... it actually doesn't. Given that both a WW and a terry are made from the same yarn the WW will appear to dry a surface better because of the way it's woven. All those hills and valleys serve a purpose... the hills act like hundreds of little squeegees pushing the eater up into the little valleys or cups thus allowing the fibers of the towel enough time to absorb the water.

You can actually achieve the same drying performance with a terry towel by wiping very slowly giving your towel enough time to absorb the water. Try it, take a towel and wipe fast, then wipe very slowly and you'll see the surface is dry.

waffle does a good job in drying a car for real.

a long while ago i used to use the shammy drying material which is a big no no for your car, i didnt know better back then. but now since im using the waffle weave towels, i will never go back to shammy ever again.
