Hey guys,
This SUV was booked for the full treatment.
20 hours invested and it needed every last bit of it!
After 2 rounds of sonax wheel cleaner, ez-detail brush, + other various wheel brushes...
After washing the car via 2 bucket method with a mix of dawn/citrus wash & clear and a microfiber chenille mitt to strip any previous waxes etc. (which there probably wasn't any to start) I then began claying with ONR as clay lube and a medium grade clay bar. This process exceeded 2 hours! A lot of bonded contaminants and every edge/corner had to be clayed where normally a good bristle brush and all purpose cleaner would have done the job.
License plate removed..
Back hatch had some science experiments going on...
After some xenit citrus cleaner/apc/bristle brush & flushed with water...
Can't forget the door jambs:
I then did my test spots on the paint...We agreed on a 2 step paint correction in hopes for a near perfect outcome..
1st test spot with Orange/m105/pcxp
Paint was very hard and not correcting as well as hoped.
Stepped it up to surbuf pad w/ m105 again. (Also found a deep scuff in the middle of the 2nd test spot)
Still not 100% perfect but removed majority of the defects.
Here is the car all masked ready for some surgery.
I carried on with the surbuf/105 combo followed up by menzerna powerfinish on a white pad.
Before shot on the hood:
After:
Here is the hood polished and fender untouched.
The gloss difference in person was significant.
