Volvo XC70 Detail

Hello Everyone! Today was a nice day to detail. I had originally planned to do 2 details today, the volvo, and a 91 crown vic but reasons I will tell you about slowed me down, so the CV is next week. The detail was done on gravel so that was no fun all the way through. It was a big mess. Also all the polishing was done in direct sunlight which made rotary polishing almost impossible, and very dangerous. I didnt snag pics of the engine or interior so I will just post the exterior process:

Washing

-Wash with Hi Temp bubbling suds / foam gun, B&D pressure washer assist.

-Meguiars Clay / Meguiars Last Touch DS 1:1 lube. (alot of clay marring?)

-Wheels Cleaned with Meguiars Wheels Brightener 1:1 , and megs brushes.

-Wheel Wells cleaned with wheel brightener 1:1, pressure washer assist.

Paint

-(Hood = RIDS) Hi Temp Xtreme Cut via Meguiars 6" yellow polishing pad @1200

-(Hood) Menzerna FPII via meguiars 6" light cut beige pad.

-Optimum Polish via Meguiars 6" yellow polishing pad @1200

-Poorboys PwS

-Pinnacle Souveran

-Constant S&G to remove dust and pollen

MISC:

-A.M. Super Dressing 3:1 in weels

-Meguiars Hyper Dressing 3:1 on trim and wheels

-Poorboys WS on wheels

-S&G to finish off windows

Lessons learned:

-Working of Gravel Sucks

-Working in Direct Sunlight Sucks

On a good note however the clients I worked for are amazing poeple and very hospitable. They asked many times if I needed water or if I wanted any lunch. There countless encouraging compliments kept me going.

Hell yeah working on gravel sucks. I do about 6 cars a week on gravel. That night I feel its effects on my ankles and knees. Great work. The detail came out awsome

Wow amazing work it looks perfect. Those wheel wells are beaoooootiful!

I was using my rotary today in direct sunlight too. It started getting angry with me until I told it to shut up with a few sprays of Meguiars Final Inspection. Kept things going smooth! :sign

I have not tried this hi-temp extreme cut stuff. Where do you get it, and how does it compare to Optimum Hyper Compound for work time, cut, etc?

Thanks for the comments everyone. The reason I didnt finish with FK1 was because I was workign in direct sun. I used the PwS because I knew it was sun freindly. The cable from the hood is recharging the battery. The customer fipped on a light and It drained the battery. The hi temp xtreme cut can be purchased from www.topoftheline.com Its a step away from wetsanding and is best used with a rotary.
