Vinegar Choices

What vinegar should I use in the "Magic acid wash"? Should it be a distilled white vinegar or any plain vinegar will do?

You can buy a huge jug of Heinz distilled white vinegar at Costco for like $2.50.

I use it to put in my fabric softner dispenser in my washing machine when I wash my MF's and cotton towels.

The last gallon I picked up at the grocery store was $.99 and that will last a long time.

White vinegar has a lot of useful detailing-related purposes.

How much should be added for washing MF's?????

I put it up to the fill line. What is that, like 3/4 of a cup? :nixweiss

I think if you do a full load, 3/4 - 1 cup of vinegar is ok. I haven't had an issue with that amount.

MF's come out clean and don't smell like the detergent which is a good sign since it indicates it's all rinsed out.

I use a white vinegar bath to remove wax and grime from a vehicle before detailing. Three parts water to one part vinegar in a bucket, rinse the car with the hose, then apply the vinegar with whatever you use for washing. Do one panel at a time, letting the vinegar stay on the surface for one minute, then rinse.

I also use the same vinegar solution to clean ceramic tile in the home.

Just remember, the you use the vinegar in the final rinse, not in the wash. The purpose of it is to allow the fabric to release any soap residue.

That's why I put it in the fabric softner dispenser. It gets included in the last wash / rinse cycle. Cheaper than buying the Downy ball.

It's a clever solution to simply add it to the fabric softener dispenser on the washing machine. :up

Just make sure and clean out any fabric softner residue beforehand ;)
