I love being able to speak directly to the "chemist" of Optimum as I can voice my concerns, questions and suggestions directly to him and he can then either tell me "OK" or "no way!":)



Here with the Tire Shine he listened and developed a tire dressing that is water based, provides a great shine and actually tends to last a bit longer than the one it is based off of. The Tire Gel is great for guys doing lots of cars and need to get a nice shine on the tires and do it real fast.



I am using the Optimum degreaser now (as well as Ron) and we hope to report back on its results.

There is something though to be said about quality. The Vette, especially interior wise, looks and sounds cheap. The doors when they close sound cheap, buttons seem to fall off and they creak alot when being driven, IMHO.



If you like HP though the Vette is hard to beat.EOQ



Great work, the engine detail is amazing. Not my kind of car though, I prefer quality, IMO mere HP does not make it a Ferrari / Porsche contender.

I agree, a Ferrari/Porsche is more car all around but Ferrari and Porsche better do something MORE because horsepower wise the Vette is an animal and it makes you question if the extra 50k's are worth it? I know of Vettes with more than 100k miles on them although I don't know of any Ferrari's with that type of mileage.



I did not mean to say that Vette owners are "cheap" or that the car itself is not worth the cost because I know many wealthy Vette owners and the Vette is very much worth its price, in fact many question if it's not under-priced! After re-reading my post though it sounds as if I am slamming the Vette and its owners but that's not my intention at all.



So my apologies to all Vette owners if I offended them. I think that the Vette is one hell of a car and I don't believe it seeks to compete with Ferrari or Porsche but rather it holds to its American Muscle car roots, which is always a cool thing. I drive alot of Porsche's/Ferrari's and such but hardly ever drive a Vette and because of that I perhaps am wrongly comparing apples with oranges. Given my choice though, it would be Porsche over both Vette and Ferrari:D

I'd love that Lingenfelter Vette that cranked off a 1.97 0-60 time with just the addition of slicks (and just over 4 ticks to 100!). Ran a very low 9 @ 150 mph and the twin turboed motor had a warranty to boot!



I'd put up with a few creaks and groans to absolutely annihilate much more expensive cars. ;)

Your talent level is second to none. Always amazing! You could probably buff on peanut butter and chocolate syrup and come up with a nice looking finish! The engine bay is sweet, and that first shot of the hood looks like a reflection pool!



Can you comment on the polishing process?



-what machine, pads, speed?



Specifically on defect correction -swirl mark vs. scratch.



How are you applying the Optimum tire dressing? I'm using an EO foam pad. It's a bit too thick for me. Not a bad product, but I still prefer BoldnBright.

Hey Thanks:D Yeah the mural is a real attention getter and here in Texas, a real crowd pleaser! I wish I could take credit for that little bit of artistic work but sadly I can barely draw a stick man:(



I just spoke with the Vette owner and he told me he took "Best Of Show" so I am very happy and also very relieved to hear that news:xyxthumbs

:D Hey thanks for the confidence and while I am not sure if I could make peanut butter and chocolate syrup buff out to a nice finish,I do know that if we threw in some cherries, bannanas and whip creme we could make a tasty treat!:up



As for my machine of choice I used the Metabo rotary for all steps with a speed of about 1200 rpm's. I also used American Buffing pads. Their was only light marring within the paint, no swirls, so the Optimum polish and a polishing pad was really as aggressive as I needed to get.



Are you using the Optimum Tire Gel of the Tire Shine? The tire gel is really designed to be used in conjunction with an aircompressor and spray gun while Tire Shine is designed to be applied via your conventional trigger sprayer. The Vette tires were dressed out with the Tire Shine. It is still in a gel format but not as think and actually seems to last longer than the Tire Gel.



I didn't even have to go over the tires after spraying them. They dried to a very nice looking finish.
