Very stupid question regarding gallon jug of Quikshine?

03COBRA

I miss my 03 Cobra......
Well I recently discovered CK Quikshine. Anyways I am purchasing a gallon of it from one of our favorite vendors and was wondering about something. I have heard that the jug is almost empty, like it has about 1.5" of Quikshine at the bottom. Well if I have to add water myself, should I use a high quality bottled water that I know has been filtered? Like Evian or one of the other bottled water vendors? Now I know bottled water is a joke, but in this case will it make the Quikshine a little better of a product, or should I just use tap water? ;)

Hey, like I said it's a stupid question. Would you expect anything less from me! :rofl:nono

Distilled water as mentioned above from either the supermarket or a local cigar shop would be great. If you want to get really crazy I can ship you a gallon of Nanopure water courtesy of my Chem department.

Distilled Water gets my vote.

I find it funny it comes as a concentrate. Please let me know how it works out for you.

Wow, thanks guys!

Distilled water huh, sounds like a plan! I never even thought of the minerals in the water, good find. I'm very glad I asked this question!

Thanks Setec and Sean, I appreciate you guys taking the time to answer my question!

And MS22, thanks for the offer but what is the Nanopure? A really pure distilled water? I'm up for what ever makes this product the best it can be! How much for a gallon?

Kyle, wait until you get some replies as to what people have used in the past and have been successful with. If you are still interested in the Nanopure just gimme a PM here or at DC whenever and I'll send it out.

Another vote for distilled water. I use it for Quckshine as well as any other dilutions I need for interior work.

A gallon is 90 cents at my local gorcery store.

I also use it in my iron when I need to iron my clothes. I'm just as Autopian when it comes to my clothes - neat, clean, starched and pressed :p

Carboys are a glorified name for plastic water dispensers. The company is talking about how their Nanopure machine can be programmed to filter and dispense a given volume of water in order for you to leave and continue with other things instead of constantly watching the water level of the carboy. We use Nalgene carboys at my school, 1 and 5 gal, to transport the Nanopure water to whereever you are working since our system is not portable like the one on that page; ours is roughly the size of a large frezer.

I sent ClearKote an e-mail and asked them if I would be better off using distilled water (the jug says to add tap water). His reply was something like "if your water is so crappy you can't drink it, then use distilled, otherwise tap water is fine." (maybe not his exact words, but pretty darn close!).

Since I have enough distilled around for other stuff that's what I'll use, but he didn't seem too concerned about it.

That's a great response! Nothing like going to the source to get an answer! :D

I wasn't told the "crappy" part, but I was told I could use tap water. He just wanted to KISS.... keep it super simple. ;)

I fill it up at my customer's warehouse that has the deionized water although Everett says good tap water is also fine.

I just used tapwater & BTW, quick shine will make the paint soooooooooo siky. It is one of the best detailing products out there imho
