Vent (pun intended)

The ventilation system in my MPV wasn't performing as it should be.

This thing I've noticed for some time now : even with the fan on Max, there was unsuficient(sp?) airflow.

last night I was tired of it and searched the internet on all Mazda related sites and found what was wrong:

some pollen filter should be replaced.

The weird thing is that in the owners manual they never mention the pollenfilter, nor the place where it is located:you need to remove the glove-compartiment to reach it:( .

That filter was more than dirty, I vacc. it as much as possible to get me through the trip , but it needs urgent replacment.

I'm gonna talk to the dealer about it: during warranty he's doing the maintenance of the car and he's got some explaining to do why that filter has never been replaced.

end rant

They are called CABIN FILTERS....and they are a PIA to find at local auto parts stores...................

Even some dealerships do not stock as people freak at the price of $15-40 for a cabin air filter.............when their home aire filter for furnace or AC can cost as cheap as a $1

My Saab has a cabin/pollen/HEPA/whatever filter too. Its easy to find replacements but tough to replace it. I left it up to my repair shop to swap it out. Took them over an hour and they've done many of these.

I don't understand why the automakers design in a pollen filter but make the darn things so hard to exchange. On some Fords (Contour I think) the swap is a 10 minute job. Everyone should copy Ford and make filter swaps easily accomplished.

house filter costs $1?? My filtration system in home is $40 to replace.

I don't think either of my cars have filters....

My 993 has two of these "pollen filters" and yes they are a PITA to replace. It isn't so much they are a pain to replace it is the replacement cost....$35 each :shocked and that is at dealership that will sell it at cost. WTF? These are not HEPA just little round paper filters that look like small versions of shop vac filters. Heck even the factory engine air filter is only $15.
