I'm about to place an order. Originally I was planning on ordering Meg's FD and #81. Now I'm leaning towards replacing the #81 with VM.



I have four VM questions.



1) Is VM considered a cleaner and a glaze?

2) Does it stain trim?

3) Is it too abrasive to use every time you wax?

4) Can you purchase it in larger quantities than pints?



I've searched VM posted and didn't see these question addressed.

2) No

3) You will be fine. All the cleaners are really mild.

4) I don't think so but you can call clearkote. They have a very good Customer Service.



Clearkote is a good choice!!!

WOW....any guess which product is giving it the gloss and reflection or is it the combination of the VM+P21s+QS?
 
VM not only has a minor glazing effect along with mild cleansing ( similiar to Meg#9) but also lays down a layer of protection. I use VM exclusively on my clearcoat wheels because of these properties ( cleans, shines, and protect). Also so easy to use.Makes wheel care a snap.

When I am really bored I add a VM step to my finish regimen also( DACP,Menzerna IP and FP, VM, Z7 wash,Z6 wipe, Zaino Z2/5).
 
Basically what the other said. In addition, #81 will have a wetter look and VM will have a more reflective look and it also leaves the paint super slick so wax just glides on.

I think you'll like it. That's what I used on the XJS the last time and it was quite nice. VERY shiny and reflective, but not "artificial looking".
 
The art of detailing. Making paint look like paint.

This is accomplished via a proper Prep. Prep is more than just reducing surface marring. It is also perfecting the surface's optics. If your protectant makes your paint appears artificial, the prep skewed your paints optics and the protectant is just enhancing these flaws. Took me many years to comprehend and practice what I learn in basic physics ( optics ).

The first step is to realize that your clearcoat is quite similiar to a lens and until you perfect these optical flaws the appearance of the base color coat will also be optically flawed. The professionals (i.e. Scott) seem to have an eye for this, leading to their outstanding results with almost any product they use. I am getting there. :wavey

Well, all the cleaning properties are so mild that I consider it a glaze.



The only person that could remove swirls and sratch with VM was scottwax. You know that his work is better than a PC so just a human being like me will get just a glaze. LOL



I remember one of his clients (scottwax client) put his foot on the car hood and scott removed the scratches with VM.

I wonder why ClearKote doesn't offer a product a little more agressive than VM?



Something to prep a little better before you apply their glaze (VM) and wax CMW.

The scratches were pretty minor and if you use a terry cloth towel or applicator, you will be able to remove minor imperfections more easily than with a foam pad because the terry cloth material is more aggressive and causes more friction than foam and you can build heat much more easily (one of the reasons rotarys are so effective is the heat they build up).





NHBFAN=Clearkote does have a much more aggressive product called Blue Moose, but as yet it is unreleased. It is aggressive enough to leave minor surface scratches behind (easily removed with DACP) but is also very effective in removing serious problems quickly. I do wish there was an intermediate polish or cleaner, but DACP and Swirl Free will work in the meantime.

QS.
 
Have sunglasses handy LOL. :lol



Mr. Everett told me to apply 2 coats of VM to improve the look.



Don't use much product 1 - 1 1/2 oz is enough for a standard car.

Yeah, not to get into a "does it layer" go-round, but in MY case, the second application made a noticable improvement (to an already good finish). The third was MAYBE noticable, maybe not.
