Vanilla Moose and EX-P on a friend's red Cobra

After seeing VM's swirl removing ability yesterday on my dad's '66 Stang, I decided to try it on my friend's car. I only did the hood since it's about 100 degrees out...told him to bring it on a cloudy day and I'll do the whole car. Now he's driving around with a deep, wet, glossy hood and the rest of his paint fairly faded.

First I washed the hood with Eagle One WET car wash (I love that stuff), and dried with my ExcelDetail waffle weave.

Then, I applied VM to my white CMA polishing pad, spread it around the paint with the PC off, then put it on 3 to spread evenly. I then cranked it up to 5-6 and did 1/4 of the hood at a time.

After I was done with VM, I applied EX-P with a grey finishing pad.

Here's what it looked like before.....

Right side is polished with VM, left side is untouched.

Noticeable decrease in swirls, but still visible clearcoat etching that I don't think a PC can touch....

Looks pretty sweet!

However, I found VM/EX-P on Red to be pretty poor in excessive sun. I found it to really drown out the red and almost look orangy. However, in light sun or shade, it looks great!

I've experienced this on 2 different red cars, so keep a lookout for it :)

I dunno, so far every red car I've done, it starts out looking red, then I think our minds play tricks on us and it starts to look orange, no matter what I do. Even if I'm just standing there....after a minute or two, it starts to look real orange.

Wolfgang is the only product on red that I have found to really just get deeper as the sun shines brighter.

I guess its all in what you want.

Very noticeable difference with the VM! I probably would have topped with CMW or a different carnauba though. I usually only use EX-P on lighter colored cars, but it does look good on that Cobra!

Well, the car is kept outside, so I wanted to use something with more durability than a carnauba. I guess if he wants I can always top it with #16. I thought it looked good. :nixweiss

I think it depends on the shade of red, mine is a deeper red, and the SEPC/S100 combo made it deeper to me.

that VM keeps eatting up all the oxidation and swirls..

what speed did you put the EX-P on the finishing pad?

VM really does a number on oxidation. I use a polishing pad and a speed of 6 on stuff like this:
