Vanilla Moose Advice

Hey guys...

I jumped on the S100 bandwagon last year and I haven't looked back since!

I've never used any kind of pre-wax treatment before so I'm looking to score some Vanilla Moose for my Milano Red 98 Integra GS-R since I have noticed some small swirl marks on my finish. I also want to achieve a deeper shine.

I've noticed that the Vanilla Moose + S100 seems to be a pretty popular combination, but I was wondering how often I should apply the Vanilla Moose? Currently I S100 my car about once every two-three weeks. Is Vanilla Moose similar to Meguiars glaze (#7)?

Vanilla Moose is awesome !! I always used either Klasse AIO or P21s GEPC topped with S100 and had great results.

I have been using VM now and kind of like it a thin hair better than the AIO and GEPC. The only thing is, I don't like the s100 over the VM. On my silver Audi the S100 to me takes away the smoothness and glossyness of the VM. So what I do is just top over the S100 with VM. However, when it rains the VM will be washed off immediately, but the S100 will be right beneth with good protection waiting to be re-applied over with VM.

Umm, Vanilla Moose contains unrefined solvents, so you're not topping S100... you're just removing it. When it rains, nothing is protecting your paint at all.

Also, be careful when constantly using a product with abrasives.

Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth.....

Using VM Every Time, Would Be Like Starting From Scratch Each Time. The VM Is Gonna Strip Whatever Is Beneath it.

Using VM Over P21s Would Be Like Putting #9 Over P21s, That Would Make No Sense To Me. Why Strip Your Wax?

Sometimes ya learn the hard way........Nothing like fellow Autopians confirming your mistakes !!hehe;)

Its good stuff, EZ on, EZ off, great finish....Just wished it lasted longer....

Just a thought.....there are a number of people here who just love VM...and for good reason. There was a bad batch of VM that got out a few months ago..I got some. The VM had a strong vanilla scent..stronger than normal, and it was very thin...like coffee with alot of cream in it. My original bottle was the consistency of whipping cream...thicker and had little particles in it..the wax base I guess. When I tried the newer bottle, it wouldn't shine..it didn't even polish. I pulled out my old bottle..and lo and behold...nice polishing...real nice shine...and that slick feel that everyone seems to love. Check your bottle first...if it's really runny..not just seperated....like coffee milk..then it's no good.

I think it's worth checking, 'cause if you're judging VM by a bad batch, then you haven't seen what this product can do.

Quality Control! Se my entry in the Vendor Kudo & Info Category.

How effective is VM as a swirl remover when compared to #9? Would it too abrasive to use #9 followed by VM?

Spilchy - While VM is noticeably abrasive, I didn't find it strong enough to really remove swirls. Others HAVE, so it must be a borderline situation. I don't think the #9/VM combo would be too abrasive for normal applications, they're both pretty mild.

BW, i noticed you didnt have any comments on either of those threads you suggested, or did i miss it ?

If so, whats your experience with Clearkotes products ?

I happen to like them as do many others, I dont think their a 10 out of a 10, but there EZ to apply and remove, and provide a very good shine, among other qualities........They may not last as long as other products, but show me a Carnauba that would make it more than a month in So. Cal. in the summer !

This is new news to me!!! Ummmm, maybe I have a bad bottle?? The stuff I have now works pretty good I think. Only had a chance to use it once in the NJ monsoon we've been having for the past few months. I would like to say that the bottle has the consistency of say maybe milk, very very watery. Nothing thick or creamy about it. Is this something I should look into?? I know its sitting in my shelf seperated, maybe I could tell by the amount of seperation levels??

You have one of the bad bottles if the bottle itself is swelling and bulging out. Apparently, the culprit was too much of the vanilla scent ingredient.

The new bottles have no vanilla scent to keep that from happening again.

I have a question about VM. Vanilla Moose is a cleaner and polish that replaces AIO but VM has natural waxes that gives it a more depth, right?
