USPS Priority is a joke!

I sent a letter out the yesterday, USPS Priority, with delivery confirmation. You get a tracking # with DC. So I go the USPS to see where the letter is, theres no record of it. I sent out another letter again today, same method, looked it up out of curiosity, no record of it. The only tracking you get with USPS Priority, is, when it was received at USPS, and when the recipient got it...Is that tracking ???

USPS, your a joke............If tracking is important to you, go with FedEx, there ground shipping is a day behind Priority, but theres full tracking, and its normally cheaper also.......

I also noticed that when I ordered something priority (I can't for the life of me remember what it was...) there was a problem with getting the tracking info on the site. I signed for the package just after the info got online.

Well as long as I get my new Propel backing plate/pads and Grit Guard soon with no problems, I'm happy! :)

I have to agree about USPS tracking though...a joke for sure.

I have to say, Patrick, the tracking may suck, but the delivery is pretty darn good for the price. I agree, if you want good tracking, UPS or FedEx....I prefer UPS.

USPS I personally say is very convenient! Price is not bad and they can even pick it up from your house, with free supplies, (Which I haven't done, anyone?) However tracking does suck.

UPS has had 1 mishap, mainly from someone taking my package from my door (it was returned later, oddly). Otherwise very good! I love how they leave it at my door.

Fedex Express this week has been a real pain in the butt! The whole signature requirement for some of their services is outrageous. I drove to the Fedex office and they quoted their policy NOT to give me my package since I was not 18 :( Otherwise, their tracking system is very good and seems very valuable for businesses. Has anyone had any problems with Fedex Ground or Home Delivery?

Patrick how cheap is Fedex?

IMO, FedEx sucks. At one time, they were the "gold standard" of service, but once UPS entered the overnight business in the late 80's, FedEx has struggled, and around here at least, their service frankly sucks. Their non-union "couriers" are rude and crummy, while the Teamster UPS drivers and management bend over backwards to do a good job. I do everything I can to avoid using FedEx.

Mike, agreed.....

Silva, youve been PM'd.....

Mike.......... Everytime, and I mean EVERTIME I get something delivered to me from UPS, the box is in near shambles....corners crushed, tape missing, blah blah blah....I keep my fingers crossed that the merch. isnt damaged...I have never had a problem with FedEx (knock knock). The personel at our local office have outstanding customer service skills, and bend over backwards to assist/make me happy..........

I guess there must be some regionality to it Patrick, years ago the FedEx service was great, and UPS was crappy, now it's the other way around, although I have seen my share of beat-up UPS shipments. One time at work, I had to talk to a FedEx "courier" who I found cursing out one of the ladies in the office, I told him if he had dispatch problems he should talk to his boss, not yell at our people, so he storms off and flips me the bird...I called customer service to complain...and NO ONE CARED. Compare that to UPS a long time ago when we had a Red shipment that came late and no one signed for it...the driver threw it on the table, we didn't even know it was there until like 2 PM...we called and complained...never saw that driver again.

I have to say, I have great luck shipping my eBay auction stuff via Priority Mail. The tracking isn't as good as FedEx or UPS, but at least they deliver consistently.

I have stopped using FedEx because they suck so bad in my area. They won't even knock on the door...much less leave a notice. They drop of boxes at the leasing office and if you don't know you have a package coming that's just too bad. FedEx home service is the worst joke in the delivery business. They work 8-5 and it takes 24 hours for them to respond to any inquiry - if you are lucky. I actually am starting to not do business with companies that only ship FedEx because they suck that bad.

UPS is really great in my area, but their world headquarters is just down the street.

Sorry to rant, but any one that sells over the internet or mail order would do well to offer all of the companies as options because you'd hate to loose someone's business because they don't like your shipper. I have actually told two companies I spent over $500 with in 2004 that I won't give them any more business unless they ship with someone other than FedEx.

I avoid using the post office at all costs. Can't tell you how many times checks have been lost, not to mention how rude and unhelpful they are at the local offices (though there is one nice person there). Fed Ex is my preferred for shipping, UPS for receiving.

I may have to use the PO late this week/early next week though and it definitely sounds like Fed Ex is out of the question...Todd. :)

Sounds like everyone dislikes someone !! Im more concerned when a recipient asks for a tracking number, i give it to them, but USPS says it has no evidence of a package! How do you respond?!?!?

Trust me? I shipped it, honest?

This is a big concern of mine.....

I agree, USPS has an outdated "tracking" system, but their deliveries are very good. If I know when it was sent, I know when it'll arrive, plus they deliver on Saturday, something UPS doesn't do.

It is delivery confirmation, not tracking. There is a difference. If you need full tracking, you gotta spring for Express Mail. And, as a bonus, your package will be delivered even on Sundays!

When it says there is no evidence, this is how you can reply.

Perry, so now the sending party needs to upgrade to get tracking ? More $ ? Thanks for clarifying tracking vs delivery confirmation! I wish the USPS knew what is was, they always tell me "Heres your tracking #..."lol The Sunday delivery option is great also....I have to admit, if that is true, I have never seen a USPS vehicle on the streets on a Sunday!

If they want real tracking every stop along the way, then it does cost more. Same as using UPS or FedEx costs more than standard Priority Mail (most of the time it seems). Gets there in about the same time, but you get full tracking.

I have gotten an Express Mail package on a Sunday before. Surprised my roommates when the mailman was banging on the door at 8am Sunday morning with an evelope for me.

"Delivery to most locations 365 days a year, including Sundays and holidays at no extra charge."

I think it's just the nature of the business. So many packages that people want delivered by a certain date for cheap rates.. Stuff is bound to get damaged at some point in time, no matter which of the big carriers you choose.

It's funny how everyone has different experiences! We have been using Airborne (now DHL) at work a lot and I thought they were pretty good with rates/service until we sent something to Canada--which fell into a black hole and nobody knew where it was for days.

It's a tough business, and all the "overnight/air ship" guys had to get into ground service because UPS muscled in so bad on their primary market. I forget how many millions of packages they were all moving at holiday peak, but it's almost unbelievable that anything gets to the right place with that many packages in transit, let alone that they (most of them ;) ) give you online tracking.

I've had very few problems with FedEx. I've only had two packages damaged. And only one package was listed as not delivered even though I ship to that customer before. I have UPS as well, but I haven't really found a reason to drop FedEx.

Priority Mail is faster coast to coast, but it gets pricey quite quickly for most shipments.
