Using windex to allow adjustment of 3m-taped spoiler

Didnt know where else to put this thread...

I am installing a lip spoiler on my car's trunk. The spoiler attaches with double sided 3M tape. I have heard that a 50/50 windex/water mix sprayed onto the trunk and tape will allow adjustment of the spoiler before the windex and water evaporate so the spoiler will not be "stuck" if it is not positioned correctly when the tape touches the paint. This seems like a much better approach than trying to line the spoiler up perfectly the first time.

Had anyone had any experience with this? Will the windex/water solution affect the tape at all? Any tips?

Windex will work, however it does tend to speed up the activation of the glue. For better results, you might want to try what window tinters use; a capfull of baby shampoo (Johnsons & Johnsons is best) in a spray 32 oz spray bottle of water. Once you have it in place, blow dry or heat gun out the excess. Another trick is to bypass the liquid all together and backpeel the red protective tape just enough to be able to pull it out once the small area is stuck.
