Using the Flex

I will be trying out my new Flex soon (on my fiberglass boat first). Rookie question...

When using it (in tight spaces etc.) can I use the sides of the pads or just the primary bottom surface of the pad? Also, I read in a "how to" for Rotary Polishers to lift the trailing edge of the pad, does that apply to the Flex??

thanks

I would keep the pad flat on the paint as much as possible. I wouldn't try getting tricky with running the side of a pad in a tight area. That's a good way to burn something with the backing plate even if it is softer than the original BP. Maybe someone else can chime in on the trailing edge, but I try to keep the pad as flat as possible. Now, with that being said, there have been times when I would put more pressure on the front (and front pad for that matter) to help combat some hopping when keeping the pad flat. Depending upon polish, weather, type of pad, and some other variables, it will get a little funky when keeping it flat and applying equal pressure. Under nomral circumstances, keep it flat. Hope this helps.
