Using machine

I've read the guide at OCDETAILS and it said that the sealant can be applied by hand or a machine. With a machine, Do I put the sealant on the pad and spread it on the car or do I put it directly on the car and use the machine to spread it? What kind of pad shall I use?

Thanks.

Put the sealant on the pad. Make a ring about one inch from the edge of the pad. You will want to use a finishing pad for applying the sealant. I don't normally use a machine to apply my last step products, so my suggestion for the pad might be a little 'iffy.'

You're pretty much dead on with your instructions. Just apply it to the pad and spread it. The idea here is to get as thin a layer as possible, so don't use more product than you need to and do small sections at a time. You're not polishing or anything, so a setting of 3-4 would be plenty and wipe it off immediately after its nice and even on the paint. Good luck!

I almost forgot, sometimes a little squirt of qd or water on the pad before starting sometimes helps the product spread easier, just make sure whatever you use is compatible with your sealant.

You can usually get away with using as much product as you want. Don't cover the pad completely with product or anything, but drawing a circle about half of the diameter of the pad is usually a good way to go. There really isn't a 'too much' or 'not enough' when it comes to applying sealants. If you used more than necessary, then you just get to spread it around on more panels of the car. Just draw a circle on the pad that is about half the size of the pad and you will have enough to start out with. Once you get used to using the product and the machine then you will understand a little better about how far the product will spread and how much to use. :bigups

Oh, and use as soft of a pad as you can. No need to use anything abrasive. Just use a soft foam pad.
