Uses for LC 5.5" Flat Yellow Pad

I get to take ///M3 out for a cruise this week took me a long time to detail it. I got a ride in it and its a monster. Hands down the best car out there next to an M5

The M3 is incredible! :xyxthumbs How were you so fortunate to get to detail one? I feel privilaged if I see one on the road.

Hello C240,

I have a white Maxima. I'm curious what type of wax/sealent you use.
 
I got an order of pads and I ordered a single 5.5" Yellow Flat LC pad (non-hydro) and I'm not sure what (if any) uses I have for it.

I use a G110 (only) and I ordered a yellow pad thinking I might encounter situations where I need something more than 105 and orange. Is a 5.5" yellow + M105 something I can use on harder or stubborn paints? Is it an appropriate combo?
 
I think the yellow is more for older finishes with severe scratches and oxidation. For a really tough correction when you might need a more aggressive pad that the orange, you might want to try the Surbuf pads. They really are everything they are advertised to be and then some.
 
I actually use the Yellow on my wifes Black Infiniti that is full of scratches.

I do Yellow with M105, followed by a bit of orange.

Then I do white/black with M205 to finish up.

I think this is something we tend to overlook.

Pads by design have a cut aggressiveness, an example would be in this case; Yellow vs. Orange. When I'm using Meguiar's M105 with a Yellow pad I always follow it up with Meguiar's M105 and an Orange pad as the Orange has less aggressive cut properties than Yellow.

Using a different pads make a big difference in how long it takes to do a proper job in paint correction.
