"Luck" Residue of design
Hi DCers, I was called about doing a spring cleanup on a regular client's Buick Park Avenue. He didn't have me do a pre winter protection last year and it was pretty bad and he put a few more dings in it over the winter. We were just doing a single stage polish but... I got on the job this morning and the single stage wasn't cutting it. Since it was my first job using the Flex I called him and got his permission to goof around testing out my new polisher. He is a great guy and a very regular client and was in no hurry for his car so I went a little farther with it. I love this color and model. I wish my Ultra was this color.

Wash with Meg's Hyper wash
Clay with Clay Magic Blue and PB S&G 50/50

The hood got a 3 stage polish starting with 105 on an orange 6.5" Poorboys VC pad
next was SSR 2 on White 6.5" Poorboys VC pad
last pass on hood was PB PWS on a Red 6" Poorboys Flex pad

The rest of the car got a pass with SSR 2.5 on Poorboys orange 6.5" VC pad
followed by PB PWS on a 6.5" white Poorboys VC pad

I hit the mirrors and bumpers with 105 followed by PB PWS. Bumpers I used the Flex, mirrors I used the G110V2 with a 4" green CCS pad

All glass got PB PP on green 4" CCS pad using G110V2

I hit the wheels with a 4" green CCS pad on G110V2 and PB PWS
Tires and wells got PB B&B

Rinsed entire car and dryed with PB DMT microfiber and PB S&G
Applied a coat of Optimum Car wax

I was sure that I left my camera at home so I wasn't going to take any pics but as I was cleaning up I was digging for a pack of smokes and there was the camera, sorry for no before pics. I was going for a middle of the road look as far as the polishing goes. You can see some marring in the camera flash but the car sure does look fantastic in person. I ran the Flex at speed 6 all the way on this car. I spent 7 hours on it.

In the next pic you can see where the paint was blended after a body repair. Is there anything you can do about this to make it look better?

Good God that turned out good. The spot that was repainted and the area around it could prob be wetsanded and blended together. The car looks great. What are your thoughts on the Flex and how does it compare to your other polishers?

The Flex is a heavy machine, it gives you a workout but I was one handing it in no time. I is a bit harder to control than a rotary and works twice as fast as a PC. It wants to walk around on the paint but it was walking less by the end of this job so I am confident that it is just something to be gotten used to.

The Flex definately runs hot I nearly burned my fingers changing pads. I was told that Coastal Eddie taxes his Flex harder than I ever will and I do a good number of cars so it must be a tough tool. I like the tools egronomics, it feels really good in my hands and didn't make my hands cramp up at all. The machine is very quiet and smooth running. I am used to the perfect centering of the Edge 2000 pad system so I can see that an Edge adapter will be on my next AG order though the Variable contact pads really are nice on the Flex. So far my thoughts of the Flex are very positive. Thanks for the compliment, I expect that the car owner will be telling me the same thing tomorrow when I go back to do the interior.

That looks great. Now, maybe when the guy drives this into a crowded farmer's market, the shine from the paint will give everyone an early warning. :D

(I keed, I keed. The car looks great.)

That's funny Steve. I got a text from him this moring, it said "OMG Dave Puff is shining like a babies butt, a giant thank you." I am returning to do the interior now with camera in hand. I'll post up some pics of interior job apon my return.

try and stay cool ..it's going to be another hot one :passout:

OK here are some interior pics, I wiped everything clean with microfiber towels and PB APC and put an application of PB NL on the dash, door panels and leather seats. The carpets were cleaned using my Cyclo with carpet brushes and PB APC and a little water then extracted dry with my Rigid wet dry vac. I followed APC with PB S&G on the door jams, windows cleaned with PB Bug Squash 20:1
