I am looking a few used cars to get one for myself.....they are all BMW cars....imagine that :yes:

Anyway I was wondering besides, consumer guides. If any of you know of a good FREE site that I can get some info on used cars...recalls, problem areas, pro's and con's, etc.

The ones that I go to are

Kelly Blue Book and Edmunds (sp) but those are for pricing.

Yeah, Edmunds reviews are excellent (consumer and pro).

I'm actually searching for a new/used car right now too. I have found online message boards to be a valuable resource in finding out real life stories. Typically, message boards tend to play up problem areas a lot, but all in all, they give you an idea of everything out there. For BMW, try:

They both are pretty civil and have a lot of valuable information. Plan to search for hours on end (I know I have been).
 
Hit the Bimmer boards up. I've always been able to find someone on a messageboard that either has a Carfax account or has one of those free trial ones. A lot of boards that I have been to, people will post up that they have one and run a vin for ya just because they can. When I bought my new Daily driver last month, that's what I did. I had a guy from another messageboard run the vin and he emailed me the results.
