Upgrading from the PC7424XP

So I have 2 PCs and plan on upgrading to a better polisher. Perhaps the Flex or Makita. I know the Makita takes a lot of practice and experience, but provides good results. While the Flex is a PC on steroids, that will produce good results as well. I'm leaning more towards on the Flex mainly because I don't have more chances of burning the paint like the Makita does. What are your thoughts on this?

Also, I have 4" and 6" LC pads and backing plate, not sure if these will work.

4" pads will not work on the flex but, the flex is a great machine.

So I'm guessing the 6" inches will? Or should I go for 5.5" and use the stock Flex backing plate?

I'll keep one PC for tighter spaces using the 4".

What are your thoughts on PC vs Flex vs Makita? Or perhaps Makita vs Flex.

The flex has a 6" backing plate so I always used the meguiars soft buff 2.0 pads and had good results. As far as the Makita vs. Flex, I sold my Flex because all I use is my 7424xp or my Hitachi rotary. Reason I like the DA and rotary is that I can easily change pad sizes as needed for the job and I just don't see the need for the Flex if you have the other two and are comfortable using them. But, to each their own and many detailers on here have great luck with the Flex.

makita to cut and level, PC to burnish and polish!

I always use the rotary to cut now...PFW and a mid-polish/compound, then the PC to step down with a mid-polish, then fine polish = no holograms ever and super clean/clear paint!
