Ultima Paint Guard on my boat

Below are the pics I took of my 32 CC and a couple coats of ultima on the sides. My sides are automotive paint plus clear coat so the UPG worked very well just like my cars. I used ultimate compound on a DA first and then applied two coats. On my oxidized gelcoat gunnels, it worked so-so - sealed it but because they have some oxidation, it do not work miracles, - they need a full compound. But it did work well on harder plastic that was matte-like the XM antenna as you see here. I also had good luck creating a MF applicator using my shurhold boat hook system. enjoy!

Thanks! I'll try some on my next detail - should be about 90-120 days the way UV degrades everything down here....
 
no but I should explain that 6 year old UV exposed 24/7 gelcoat has worn away the top part of gelcoat with the gloss - you are now in the substrate and it will only gloss to a degree with correction. I have been thru many years of detailing gelcoat and am a fan of the whole 3M Finesse-it series and they did not do it completely. It needs clear coat to really gloss. So I think I've got it as good as it's gonna get - it's shiny - but it's not put a ruler in the depth and read inch #6, like the paint sides, hope that explains it....

It's all good...where the dash, interior and electronics console still has good gelcoat gloss, the UPG works outstanding!!!!
 
Really nice rig and it looks sharp!! :bigups I imagine that stepped hull really lets those big Mercs do their job when water conditions permit. You can have the gelcoat recleared if it starts looking really rough but it's not cheap.
