Hello all,
As you can see i am a new boy onto this forum and am desperate for some independant advice on which route to go down in terms of my first purchase of a D/A Polisher.
There are a lot of guys who live in the United Kingdom that have imported the Porter Cable D/A polisher, i know this is a very good machine, but when you take into account that our working voltage is 240v not 110v and we will need a large (aka heavy) step down transformer to get it working, coupled with this the new plug and extension lead.... no warranty to speak of should the unit go wrong. Is there another option ???
I had the idea of purchasing a Makita BO6040 which is available in the UK in 240v form, i understand that this is similar to the PC7424 but can also act as a full orbital polisher as well.
Could users of both machines give me any guidance at all on if my intended buy is a good one, and can the 6'' backing plate on the Makita be removed and replaced by the smaller 4'' so that the spot pads made by the various manufactures can be put on.
Sorry for the long post but i am about to purchase and just want to make the correct decision. Thanks again.
