UDM/PC Pad Cleaner and Conditioner

So I ordered the UDM/pad kit today. I just noticed that there isn't a pad cleaner/conditioner with that kit. I don't mind, but what I'd like to know is what are you guys using to clean and condition your pads. I've seen that some of you guys/gals are using a QD to "condition" your pads before using them. What do you use to clean them?
 
I've been able to clean my pads using palmolive or dawn (whatever my wife has in the kitchen). I don't let the pads dry out/cake. I soak them right after use in a fairly strong solution of warm water and detergent for about 30 minutes. I rinse out the pad under running warm water, working out the dirt and polish with my fingers.



btw, I use Meg's 9 and 83 and P21S paint cleanser and LC pads (orange and white).
 
I didn't realize you had to do something to a brand new pad before using it. I just got my UDM this week and just used the fresh pads right out of the bag without doing anything special to them. When I ordered my UDM and pads I also ordered the "snappy clean" pad cleaner. It was only $4 so I figured why not, but when it runs out I guess I'll just use some Dawn. I'm just worried as I've heard stories of some cleaners possibly causing the velcro to come unglued from the pad, is this true??

From what I've read spritzing the pad with a QD or water before you use your product helps spread it easier.
