Along time ago my friend gave me 2 bottles of Formula 113 because his dad is friends with the guy who makes it or whatever.

Anyways I got two big bottles of it hidden in my garage I found this afternoon cleaning it out. I heard its pretty good wax, I tried searching on here but didn't come up with that much info. Anyone here use it? Should I try it out?

Also does wax go bad? It's been in my garage for atleast a year. And can I reuse old wax applicators? Should I wash them?

Last but not least if im going to wax the car tommorow should i use dawn soap instead of my nxt soap?

Welcome to the forum rOdxx. Before you get warned by the mods, you should initially post in the Autopia University forum.

I have never heard of the wax you mentioned. As far as wax going bad, you are probably ok in using it. Why not buy some new applicators. Viking sells some good applicators and can be purchased at Autozone, Walmart, etc. Skip the dawn and use NXT wash.

BTW, have you recently clayed your car?

Actually, we've talked about it quite a bit over the years:

Car Care products can go bad over time, especially if they're allowed to freeze. Best thing to do is contact the mfr directly and ask about product shelf life.

Sure, you can reuse your apps as long as they're clean and soft. Any doubt, just trash them and buy new ones. They are cheap compared to the amount of time you'll spend fixing the damage done by nasty apps.

No special reason to use Dawn but it won't hurt anything. It'll just strip off all the old wax that's on the car now. The NXT shampoo is fine if you'd rather use that.

Formula113 is a pretty easy to use wax, decent shine but it isn't very durable. You can use it in the sun, so it is a nice product to use at a car show if you don't have a tent to park under but want to freshen up the shine. Beading and slickness go dead in about 5-6 weeks for me.

thanks man ill still try it out tommorow.

What happens if i used it every 4 months? Would i have no wax on my car for 2 months...

I agree with the 'get new applicators' suggestion. I bought a six pack of terry covered foam pads for a few bucks at Auto Zone.

I trust Scottwax's opinions cmpletely, and if he says it's dead in 4-6 weeks, I would wax a minimum of once a month with that product. The longer you go without a good coating, the worse the bonded contaminants are going to be when it's time to rewax
