Hi all,
It's been a few years since I've been on this forum and had to go ahead and make a new account.
It's been an exciting week since I just purchased not one, but two cars.
Car #1
2015 (new) Volkswagen Touareg dark blue paint
Condition seems good but definetly some light swirls in the paint from the dealership. Currently has some type of wax on it.
Car #2
2002 (used) Maserati Spyder Cambiocorsa dark blue paint
Paint looks good, but there is a couple scratches here and there. I didn't see any significant swirling, but the car has yet to be delivered and lighting when I did see it was poor. Also a few small dents, but likely beyond my ability to remove- unless someone here knows a couple tricks. The interior needs work as it's quite dirty inside. I might go at the scratches with some very light 3000 grit sandpaper and compounding.
So now that I've got these two beauties I need a recommendation of what products to buy. Below is what I have.
PC 7424
I think 5" backing pad (I'm not home to check right now)
Menzerna either IP 2000 or SI 1500 (again I'll have to check)
KAIO
3 year old leatherique (still good?)
It's time to load up on supplies!
So what I need is a recommendation for pad combos (I've used LCC pads in the past) with the above polish, but also recommendations on what compounding product, and finishing polish I should use and with what pads. I think I'll likely need to compound the Maserati given its age and the small scatches. I'd certainly like to get everything out the first go round before I seal it.
Additionally I've looked at c-Quartz sealant but it seems so expensive and labor intensive- is it truly worth it? What sealants would you all recommend? I was thinking of toppling with collinite 845, unless you think I'll get much better results with something else.
Overall I guess what I'm looking for is the typical list of what to use (and on what pads) for each car.
Excited to get these two cars up to autopia's standards.
Thanks in advance for you advice.
I'll try and get pictures posted within a week and track progress.
