I feel your pain, I have a Magnavox, that is just shy of 30 YO, that just recently started to loose the pic, sound is still on, but the picture comes and goes...Once it's really warmed up the pic seems to stay on with no problems.

It's an office TV for me at home so there is really no issue, I"ll just look on CL for a free one someone is giving away.

Time for a upgrade Dave. How much space do you have to work with?

It sits on a file cabinet, like I said..I keep an eye out on CL..for someone that has up graded theirs and is giving away the old one. Again this is an office TV that I use for background noise during the day.

yea. thinking of a 50" led. DTV left a HD cable when they came for the install. think i can find that? lol.............:lmfao

Dont get too caught up in the led hype, alot of the edge lit LEDs have light bleeding issues. In my bedroom I am on my 2nd Sony XBR tv. First one had a bad panel/light bleeding. If you want a LED make sure its a true backlight LED and not edge lit LED.

In the living room I have plasma no issues.

I still have my 32" Sony HDTV tube tv. Still works flawlessly after 15+ years. It weighs about 800 lbs but it sure looks pretty.

My vote is for any of the Panasonic Smart Viera Plasma TV's..

Have seen the LED's - Samsung seemed to have that locked up a couple years ago, but others are doing it too..

Just saw a 70" Sharp LED at Costco that was under $2,000 at Costco when I walked in the door... Wow!!!

AmazonBasics sells hdmi cables for $1-2 everyday.

I've had no issues with my Samsung edge lit LED, backlight is absolutely preferably but harder to find. Plasmas definitely have better blacks, but LED uses much less energy and have richer colors in my opinion, especially if you dial in the settings.

You can find a 46" for the 600-800 for a good 120hz LED Tv.

Now you can get yourself a flatscreen like a normal modernized civil human being:D

Should just fix the power supply. My older Admiral TV done the same thing and I had to replace some capacitors in the power supply. Still works to this day...

I recently threw one of those in a dumpster. I prefer my 20 yr. old 27 in. Sony Trinitron.
Someday I'll lurch uncontrollably into the 21st century. But since I only watch three channels (TCM, Antenna TV, MeTV), maybe never.

Same thing happened to me with my old Toshiba. I picked up a 47" LG and a Roku player, dumped the cable company ... and have not looked back. Enjoy the new TV, I found myself looking at TV shows and movies I'd seen before, they seemed more interesting and just looked different and I mean that in a good way.
