Turbocharged Grout Sponge

Since purchasing the new Lake Country Blue Slitted Grout Sponge is unaffordable (27.00 shipping) I figure i'd take 5 minutes out of my night and modify my Home Depot grout sponge. Mind you it isn't has refined as the LC sponge it definetly helps bending in the contours and traps more dirt up inside the sponge versus near the surface. For the $2.00 and 5 minutes out of my time, it's well worth the experiment!

Interesting. I wonder how well that sponge will hold up after a few uses....I might give this a try myself. Approximately how deep did you cut into the sponge?
 
These work alot easier with odd areas like mirrors, wheels and front fascias and the like when compared to normal flat grout sponges. They hold up just fine with normal use. Been doing this for a few years now. Definitely easier to clean in the rinse bucket when you rub your fingers a couple times over them.. I should have made my money :(
 
Cool idea and I don't blame you for not paying the shipping.



I should note that the LC Grout Sponge isn't really a grout sponge that is cut. The foam is completely different, stiffer then a regular grout sponge and kind of airy (it pops if you tear it, like little air pockets).



However the second it gets wet it becomes the softest material in the world. Quite impressive!

That's what concerns me. How will either sponge evacuate/discharge the dirt without extreme aggitation.

agreed, i wouldn't want dirt to stay trapped/dislodged inside the little pockets. with the regulars GS, you just rub it against the GG and it releases dirt/debris easily...
