Trouble with PC?

Has anybody seen a faulty PC?

The first one I have seen a bearing broke, and it took a gouge of paint off a car. Now that I have mine, I just broke my backing plate on a customers car, and it is only the 3rd car I have done with it.

Do I just bring bad luck to them?

though the PC has been tried and true for many years, not tool is bullet proof. the backing plate failure is usually an issue when used on speed 6 for long periods of time. i've had my 5" lake country backing plate for years with no problems, while some others have broken them within hours. go figure...

So far the only issue I've had with my PC was when I purchased a 4.75'' rotary backing plate plus a backing plate adapter screw, so that I could use these 5'' LC pads on my G110.

While on speed 6, the rotary backing plate disconnected from the screw and went flying, which (for a moment) left the exposed metal screw spinning 1/2'' from the paint :nervous:. I have since Gorilla-Glued the screw so that it is permanently fixed to the backing plate. I haven't used it yet though, but I hope the glue is enough to hold everything in.

I also need to invest in some safety glasses. The flying BP could take out an eye :(.

No issues with the G110 motor yet. It has seen only 7 corrections, though. Maybe 30 hours of use.

This makes sense. I was on 6 for a little bit.
