Tried two new (to me) QD's today...

1Z Lackfinish. I had been wanting to try this for a long time, but was waiting to put together an order from PakShak before ordering it. I got it today over my lunch hour and used it on my slightly dusty/buggy Corvette which has Zaino on it.

I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this QD is. It had great cleaning power on a few spots of tar and bugs. It left the finish very wet and reasonably slick. It was very easy to work with, and the spray nozzle on the 1Z bottle is awesome.

It reminded me a lot of 1Z Perls car wash with regards to how it smelled and just how it worked overall. I didn't try it on glass but it worked great on my paint.

The second one I tried was Prima Slick. This stuff is AWESOME. It works *great* on glass and leaves the finish very, well, slick. It buffs clear easily. I haven't tested its cleaning ability, but I think this would be an awesome QD to use while drying since it's SO slick. Has a pleasant fragrance that kind of reminds me of a lime starburst from Dairy Queen

So let's see, that makes my list of favorite QD's pretty high.

Griot's Speed Shine

Zaino Z6/Z8

1Z Lackfinish

Prima Slick

PB's S&W

Clearkote Quik Shine

Adam's Detail Spray

Pinnacle Crystal Mist

Sonus Carnauba/Acrylic Spritz

Meg's #34

Ones that I didn't particulary care for:

FK #425

Wolfgang Spritz (the old formula, haven't tried the new)

Eagle One OTC

Mother's Show Time

Meg's Last Touch (the smell REALLY gets to me, but performs OKAY)

PB's S&G

I have heard a lot of positive reviews on Prima Slick. I've been happy with Meg's Last Touch thus far and have a bottle of their new Ultimate Quik Detailer on its way.

How well does the Z-8 perform for you? I'm thinking of trying some in the near future.

Z-6 is the QD. Z-8 is not a QD. It is gloss boosting topper sealant. It makes no claims about having any cleaning ability. You QD with Z-6 first then apply Z-8 as a topper.

Two great QD's there mate. Prima Slick is my #1 though

1Z lackfinish aka raindance can be diluted with water as it really is a concentrate IMO

Using it neat can make it harder to buff totally clear.

What can I say about slick. Slickest of all, great as a drying aid, glass cleaner and can be diluted. Once I have the money, I'm buying cases of 1 gallon bottles.

Z8 is awesome. I don't know how else to desribe it. I've never used it on a dirty surface as I always Z6 first, but the finish I get with Z8 even on my metallic silver car is immediately noticeable in terms of gloss, wetness, and slickness. I've also had good luck using Z8 over AJ, NXT, #21, and a few other sealants.

I highly recommend Z8, especially if you're already using Z sealants.

I had wondered about dilluting lackfinish as the only problem I had with it was buffing clear. I think once I use a little less than half the bottle, I will add some distilled water and see how that works out for me. Thanks for the tip.

Slick really is awesome. I'll be looking to buy some in gallon sizes too once I use up my preliminary bottle. I love QD's that I can use on glass equally as well as paint.

Kudos for Slick (actually all Prima products dont get the recognition they deserve)

I still use FK425 as my QD for windows.

BlackSunshine- I always enjoy your QD posts :D

I oughta send you a sample of the discontinued EF Clear Pearl, you might remember that I decided not to sell off my final stash of it...it'd be interesting to see what you think of it.

So you like the Prima Slick and it *is* really slick huh? Ever try the 4-Star UGE for comparison purposes?

Oh, and what didn't you like about the FK425?

Interesting to see that you still like the SpeedShine so much (so do I).

Hey Accumulator!

You actually did send me a sample of the old EFCP :D I went through it pretty quick because I was using it over Souveran on my black motorcycle and I really liked it for simply removing dust after riding around town. It was neat to use a QD that was discontinued. I remember I was surprised at how thin it's consistency was!

I LOVE the Prima Slick. I have only used one bottle of UGE but I remember it was also the slickest QD I had used at the time. I would say Prima Slick is even slicker over my Z2Pro than UGE was over UPP. I mean the stuff just creates an instant barrier of insane slickness and like I said, it works so well over glass that I have been reaching for it after every drive instead of Speed Shine.... a scary thought! I love Speed Shine so much because it never gives me any fusses over any LSP and it is so user friendly. I don't have great luck with it on glass but it cleans pretty well and it's just a joy to use. I also feel a little better using it over slightly dustier than normal surfaces since it's somewhat thicker. There's probably no real benefit to that, but it makes me feel better using it! I'll always have some on hand.

The 425 just completely underwhelmed me. In fact, I have probably only used maybe three or four ounces of the bottle I bought well over a year ago. I can NOT get it to buff clear, no matter how little or how much I use. I have tried different towels, tried it over different LSPs, you name it. I just can't convince myself to like it. I much prefer any of the QDs I listed in my first post to it. Even on my silver cars, it leaves the paint looking a little cloudy or hazy. I understand I'm in the vast minority here with this one but it's just not worth the fuss to me.

Interesting, I've never had a problem buffing off 425. The thing I liked the most about it though is it gives me a little bit more gloss. Which brings me to my question. You guys have talked a lot about how slick Prima Slick is but what do you think about appearance? Does it add anything in terms of looks?

Oh and I agree, the Prima line of products has some good stuff in it. I'm curently using their sealand Prima Epic and I'm quite pleased with it. I've also tried their shampoo called Mystic, I found it leaves a really nice shine. I whant to try some more of their stuff like Slick and Nero next.

It certainly adds some nice gloss, as any QD worth its weight in beans will. It's no Z8 but it's better than a lot of others I've tried. The main selling points for me are how easy it is to use, how SLICK it is, and how versatile it is (works great on glass, paint, chrome, trim, etc.)

I'm definitely going to be looking into the product line for some more additions now.

I love Lackfinish, too. I agree that 1Z has great spray bottles.

I just wish Prima products didn't have the Target-like packaging, but hey if they work, they work.

Oh yeah, *now* I remember sending you that EFCP! Sheesh, I'm getting old and forgetful :o

Interesting about the Prima! And that *is* funny about the FK425, but it's not like every product is perfect for every person.

Interesting reading. Besides slickness, Prima gives a little more gloss but not anything like aquawax

Another great thing about slick is that you can use it on glass, vinyls, trims, woodgrain etc. UGE is nearly as slick but I reckon pips slick for appearance

Fk425 works really easy and gives more shine than any other IMO.

because they all have their little differences, I just bought the lot and sometimes chuck them in together.

I believe lackfinish has some perls shampoo in it. It reacts like spraying and wiping a shampoo onto the paint when used neat. Slickness is not it's forte unfortunately.

Diluted is best. I used purified reverse osmosis water.
