Tried out some ONR (pics)

*Note: This isnt a C&B, just my own mini-review.

Just thought I would share my thoughts on an already on going topic here. Being an avid user of QEW I decided to try ONR to see what the fuss is all about. With NE winter coming, I will gladly try new wash techniques.

This car has not been washed in months. Very dirty, and I wanted to see if the ONR could handle the caked on dirt.

I used two 5 gallon buckets filled with three gallons of water and ONR.

The mix. This stuff smells great.

This is how dirty the car was.

Decided to start on the door panel.

And finished.

Bucket of water after the entire car.

Here is the paint after the entire ONR wash. Keep in mind that micro-marring isn't from the ONR. The car has not been polished out in a year in a half.

Polished out nicely with OP/FPII

Really enjoyed using this stuff and it definitely has replaced my QEW. Im going to stick with conventional washing for the warmer weather but this should definitely be your go to wash for the colder season. +1

Looks good. I would reccommend a pre-soak with ONR at QD strength to provide the most marr-free wash possible. Although it looks like you got your process down pretty well.

I still have yet to view a REVIEW on ONR that has halogens of a 100% defect free car/fender and then ONR via directions. And see if micro marring starts.

Once I see that, then i will be a believer. I don't want to see a pre soak or anything. I was the review used STRICTLY as the direction state. :nana:

I just did my vehicle with ONR as temps too cold for a hose. It works very well and I think it has a bit more lubricating property over QEW. QEW still works well but I do prefer ONR.

I am old school though and still like a conventional hose job. For the winter though I am happy to have the rinse free wash. Beats the touchless washes.

+1.

There is just something more satisfying about soaping up a car and using a hose, in the warmer months I much prefer conventional washing. In the winter though, ONR can't be beat.

So, what made it better than QEW? The car looks good, man. Where did you get your QEW and your ONR from?

The ONR seemed to have much more lubrication than the QEW. QEW Is watery substance, and ONR is a little more thick and feels more comfortable to work with.

I'll see if I can do that in the next few weeks. My truck needs to be polished since it's been over a year and I didn't polish it to perfection last time. Once I've polished it to my satisfaction I'll try to do a review with before and after pics under halogens. I feel pretty comfortable taking Scott's word for it on ONR. He's been using QEW and ONR for something like 12 years so I think he knows what he's talking about when he says it doesn't cause marring.

Sounds good man, thanks.

I've posted an F-250 more than a few times where it was deep polished in March, then glazed in June and took the pics again in September and the change in the appearance is negligible. The truck was only washed with ONR the entire 6 month span (usually 2-3 times a month) and often in the full sun the entire summer. Single bucket method too, that is the only way I use ONR and before that, QEW. No spray bottle, no rinse bucket, nothing. I've washed a good 9000-10,000 vehicles (11,900 vehicles total, two customers had me washing theirs conventionally every week) using rinseless washes in the last 14 years of using them. Believe me, I am not someone interested in making my job harder so if rinseless washing was causing any marring, I wouldn't do it. Plus, with rinseless washing, I don't have to worry about drying streaks that I seem to always get when washing conventionally.

I just ONR's my car for the third time yesterday, and I can vouch that it caused no marring at all. I looked at the paint very closely under halogens and it looks perfect. I can actually decisively say that my car looks better (more shine) after ONR than after a traditional hose/ car shampoo wash. Other than being able to hose down the wheels, tires and fender wells, I see no reason to do traditional washes.

I've washed my LS460 once a week with only ONR using a single bucket technique for the last 9 months (since new) with absolutely no marring. Since new, my car has only been clayed once, had JW's Prime applied by hand once, and Opti-Seal applied twice.

My last car was an ES350 in SGM (very dark gray) was also only washed with ONR weekly with no marring after 9 months.

I really like ONR because I can wash in direct sun without worrying about streaking or spotting. The wash process including wheels and tires takes me 15-20 mins. Also, once I dry the panel, there isn't a bunch of water that keeps trickling out of the cracks and jambs.

The Stang looks very nice.

ONR is a great product. Try using it as a cleaning QD! :up I mix 8 ounces to a gallon of distilled water. (a little stronger than recommended). That ratio also makes a fine pre-soak for washing. I buy the gallon size of ONR. Even at that ratio, and using distilled water, a gallon of QD cost me about $5.

ONR is probably the best stuff that I've ever found. This will be my first winter of no more car washes of any kind!

I'm not able to clean the inside of my wheels very well, but I'll trade that over swirls or harsh water any day.

ONR works great, no doubt about that. Only thing I would which for is that the dirt would come off the mitt or MF when washing. Conventional shampoos does this pretty well, all the dirt comes off with the water, but with ONR alot sticks to the mitt/MF. Haven't tried a grout sponge yet.

i love onr it is like using a QD everytime after a wash the car is extrmely slick after use.

I still do conventional washes in summer when the car is dirty but in the winter ONR for me. i do use a spray bottle to loosen salt/grime from the lower panels during the winter

Who makes ONR? Optimum? Do you think it would work in freezing temps?

I try no to clean my car in the winter, becuse I am afraid of those car washes. there is one car wash that is ok, if you get there early during the week. (clean soap, clean mitts, clean towels) I really hate to do it, but it sometimes beats winter salt sitting on there.
