Tree sap in paint

Howdy all, just got my car back from my parents borrowing it for a few months, and it was neglected. Got to work on it last night, and got it mostly cleaned up, excpet for little specks of tree sap that seem embedded in the paint. Clay bar is doing nothing to remove it. Next step to me seems to be polishing, but I'm worried my porter cable might get it out of the paint, only to drag it across the surface of the paint and scratch the heck out of it. Has anyone had any experience removing tree sap in paint that a clay bar wouldn't remove? :thx

In two words, Isopropyl Alcohol. Had to do my fathers car for the same thing recently, and it was the only thing that worked easily.

Wow, thanks for the fast replies guys!! I kept running the clay bar over the sap doing NOTHING and was really frustrated! Thanks a million! I'll try it tonight and let yall know how it works.

I didn't have any LSP on yet, because I wanted to get this stuff off before I took the porter cable to it. Thanks a lot!
