Trailer, Van or Truck Set-up

How many of you mobile guys use a trailer, van or truck set-up? I seen a trailer and was impressed, but felt that in some ways it may put a limit on some jobs I take. I'm looking at targeting some businesses in downtown Buffalo, but some of the parking lots in the area wouldn't be too friendly for me to pull on-site with a trailer. I've also looked some nice cargo vans and trucks and tried imagining how my set up would be in those.

Any suggestions ppl? Even if you're mobile and don't have a truck, van or trailer set up let me know how it works for you.

Thanks!!!

sprinter vans are getting more and more popular, especially with ONR washings.

I detail out of a nissan xterra perfectly, but I dont use a PW, HUGE tank, or a generator. Most of my calls are house calls though.

@toyotaguy: I'm currently detailing out of a Jeep Cherokee. Like you, I do house calls, but wanted to expand my service to more of the local businesses in town.

I like my "rig" i think it looks cool in motion. Plus i can drop the trailer and use the s10 as a daily driver.

Convenience is a bit selling point on detail services. One should be able to do a detail in most any location. IMHO, the days of pulling around a big trailer are over. The new water efficient products allow you to carry a small amount of water and wash almost anywhere. I personally use a Scion XB. I can fit everything I need, and it gets great gas mileage.

I have a 2001 Chevy Cargo Van.... I Have a 130 gallon tank in the back, pressure washer, 100' hose reel, generator, air compressor, 50' hose reel, steam cleaner, vacuum, bunch of towels, all my polishes, makita, flex, porter cable, all the pads x 3, paint meters, tools, laptop stand, printer, gps, and some advertisement peices behind my seats.... The cargo van works great for me.... No need to worry about exposed equipment in rain, or in parking lots, and it fits nicely in any tight spot!!!

My take on trailers, just too big and bulky.... My take on personal cars being used, not professional, and they dont allow for high volume detailers...

Vans allow you to either, A) have everything on board if you are a serious paint correction detailer, or B) have plenty of water, towels, and products on board to handle 10 - 15 in a day... Not to mention they have a great amount of advertising space on the sides of them!!!

If I could do it all over again I would have purchased a a bigger van, maybe an express 3500, or savanah 3500, extended!

i have been wanting a Chevy Astro Cargo van for sometime now. It just makes sense as you can store a fair amount of stuff in it. Using a ford ranger right now and sometimes i have trouble fitting everything i need in there.

I have currently a Ford E250 Cargo Van and a Chevy 3500 cargo van thats gettin setup this spring I prefer the van method keeps everything together and easy to get into parking garages and driveways. I would not go with anything smaller than 3/4 ton if your planning on carrying water supply in it. Just my opinion they seem to work real well for me.
