It was truly saddening to hear about a Hendrick Motorsports plane crashing today. Ricky and John Hendrick as well as Randy Dorton, the chief engine builder (probably the most sought after builder at Hendrick or in NASCAR) were a few who died in the crash. They were heading to Martinsville to check up on their teams, but crashed 7 miles from the airport. Fortunately, Jimmie Johnson, a Hendrick driver, won the race.
This is another big hit on the Hendrick family. "Papa Joe" Hendrick, father of Rick, passed away earlier this year.
