hey guys,

i read the touch up section on the web-site. sounds like an amatuer like myself could do this. i just had my 79 bandit car painted. got it hom and dropped a tool on the fender and chipped the paint down to the primer. dupont black, base coat clear coat. i need to touch it up and wonder if anyone else had used the process described on this web-site. i am a little scared about wet sanding the sopt after i build up the touch up paint. i have never wet sanded before. can anyone give me some tips on this process of leveling touch ups and wetsanding.

There is a “blob remover called Langka that has an excellent reputation. I’ve bought it, but haven’t used it yet.

I used Langka on a small rock chip and it worked beautifully. Just make sure you have enough touch-up paint down into the chip and let it dry per the instructions before using the product.

You really do need to have a BLOB of paint above the surface of the panel before using Langka.

Michael - - How long did you let the paint dry before using the Langka? I've heard that anything from a day to several days is best.

from all the directions i have seen on touching up is that you apply several thin coats, let it dry and then add another unitl it is built up over the chip. from the directions on langka, do you just use one heavy blob?

Right on GingerBreadMan! I’d forgotten about Mother’s <IMG SRC=http://home.jps.net/~ntaylor/images/doh.gif>

I’ve been told by two independent sources that I trust, that the stuff from Mother’s is the real stuff from Lanka - relabeled under license.

The Mother's product is even cheaper than Langka.....I just ordered my from an online source for $13.99. Getting ready to use it next weekend -- I'll be sure to post a report about how it went.

I used several layers to get the "blob". Let the whole thing dry from late afternoon until the next morning.

I used David's method and it worked for me. I used a 2000 grit paper though, just because I was afraid of using the 1500.

I can barley tell I used to have about 200 of those little "nicks" on the front.
