Torch Red C5 Corvette Convertible

I recently started a new job working at an exotic car dealership full time. I will be doing many different things including detailing all the cars. This detail is a 2000 Corvette C5 convertible. Paint was in OK shape but had some road rash on the bottoms and a few good scratches that I had to wetsand & compound out. Top surfaces were heavily scratched.

My process:

Washed exterior, cleaned wheels & engine compartment

Clayed exterior with Kar Kraft clay bar

Wetsanded and compounded heavy scratches

SSR2.5 on top surfaces w/ cutting pad by rotary

Menzerna IP to complete exterior w/ cutting pad

Optimum polish to complete exterior w/ finishing pad

Hand application of AIO

Hand application of EX

Hand application of RMG

Hand application of Natty's Blue

Here's the pictures. The lighting was not great because it was getting dark.

Car looks very nice. :up

I know Vette clear is very hard, but do you think a cutting pad was necessary twice via rotary? I noticed you used a similar approach on the last Vette, too. Seems very aggressive.

I guess I could of worded it better. I used a yellow polishing pad for the cutting and a black foam pad for the finishing. The pads are not very agressive so I guess they would not be considered a cutting pad.

Whole car looks terrific! Rich, deep and wet!

BTW, when I first read the products used, I though you used a Kit Kat bar to clay the car! :)

outstanding.. but reading your list was not surprised.. clearkote and Natty's make for the perfect combination nowadays

Excellent detail. What do you get paid and how long did this take you?

Thanks,

I started the car around 11:00 or so and finished at 6:00. I took a few breaks throughout the day for lunch, errands, etc..

I'm not sure how much it would come out to be. I get paid salary plus they give me a dealer plate and a free demo to drive. I bacically do whatever needs to be done throughout the day and detail cars the rest of the time. I actually love going to work now!

Plus it's nice because all of the nice cars stay in the showroom which allows me to let the sealants cure for a complete 12 hours before adding additional layers and the cars stay really nice. Those damn fluorescent lights show everything though! :angry
